Job summary

Google LLC is seeking a Network Implementation Engineer to lead deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will collaborate with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers and field vendors to position your team for success.

You will drive reliability, efficiency and rapid service activation, owning installation quality from data centers to metro points of presence, and coordinating with field technicians to resolve blockers and meet timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Network or Telecom Engineering or related field; equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations.
• Experience interpreting and validating deployment packages to verify design accuracy and escalate discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Oversight and quality assurance of installation technicians for rack, stack and installation of networking equipment.
• Test routers and commission optical transport equipment and other network devices across Google's global network.
• Generate implementation plans and provide technical leadership during deployment activities.
• Work with project management, network engineering and the rest of the engineering team to identify potential problems in network installations.
• Own network documentation, updating and maintaining network drawings and plans.

• Bachelor's degree in Network or Telecom Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology.
• Experience interpreting and validating deployment packages (including orders and construction specs) to verify design accuracy and escalating discrepancies to engineering partners before installation.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.
• Experience identifying recurring errors in deployment packages or specifications and driving feedback loops to improve design accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Experience with Linux (e.g., running commands and navigating directories).
• Familiarity with network automation tools, scripting, or SQL to query databases and track deployment consistency.
• Familiarity with network troubleshooting and testing tools.
• Ability to lead technical projects and troubleshoot complex field deployments alongside data center technicians and third party vendors, ensuring installation quality and resolving on-site technical blockers to meet timelines.

We own the full network life-cycle in our data centers and metro points of presence, driving continuous reliability, efficiency, and rapid service activation to meet the ever-growing demands of a connected world, with the goal to make connectivity ubiquitous between every machine and every user on the Internet.

In this role, you will be a key contributor as a member of the Global Network Delivery team, directly impacting Google's ability to deliver network capacity to its customers. You will influence the future of network delivery through automation and process innovation. Our metros are on the edge of our network where Google connects to its users. The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $126000 - $180000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
