Job summary

Google LLC is seeking a Network Implementation Engineer to lead deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will coordinate with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, and vendors to ensure reliable, scalable connectivity.

Join a team responsible for building Google's global network, enabling rapid service activation and continuous reliability, across data centers and metro points of presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Network or Telecom Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of experience in DWDM, TCP/IP or system design operations methodology.
• Experience leading technical projects and troubleshooting field deployments with data center technicians or third-party vendors.

Responsibilities

• Oversight and QA of installation technicians for rack, stack and installation of networking equipment.
• Commission and test routers, optical transport equipment, and other network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network.
• Generate implementation plans and provide technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities.
• Work closely with project management, network engineering and rest of the engineering team to identify in advance potential problems in network installations, including in the areas of facility power (AC/DC), cooling, security/access, rack layout and cable management.
• Own network documentation, updating and maintaining network drawings and plans.

• Experience leading technical projects and troubleshooting field deployments with data center technicians or third-party vendors.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.


• Experience identifying recurring errors in deployment packages or specifications and driving feedback loops to improve design accuracy and operational efficiency.


• Familiarity with network troubleshooting and testing tools, and familiarity with network automation tools, scripting, or SQL to query databases and track deployment consistency. Basic Linux experience (i.e run commands, move directories).

We own the full network lifecycle in our data centers and metro points of presence, driving continuous reliability, efficiency, and rapid service activation to meet the ever-growing demands of a connected world, with the vision to make connectivity ubiquitous between every machine and every user on the Internet.

Google's network provides services to millions of Internet users around the world. Our metros are on the edge of our network where Google connects to its users. The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $126000 - $180000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
