Job summary

Nightwing is seeking a motivated network engineer to implement, maintain and support the lab network infrastructure for a U.S. Government customer. The role involves working onsite to design, configure and secure enterprise networks, provide VPN/VDI user support, and ensure compliance with security policies.

Qualifications include U.S. citizenship, an active DoD Secret clearance, and 5+ years in network administration.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability.
  • 5+ years of directly relevant experience in network administration.
  • Proficiency with Linux/Unix and MacOS.
  • Strong knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Experience with virtual desktops (Citrix, VMware).
  • Ability to collaborate across physical locations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement infrastructure solutions to enhance mission execution.
  • Integrate new technologies in lab environments and refine SOPs.
  • Assess network topology, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend best practices.
  • Provide VPN/VDI support for MacOS and iOS platforms.
  • Troubleshoot a broad range of network issues from basic to complex.
  • Implement access controls, monitor performance, and maintain backups.
  • Diagnose storage issues across LAN/WAN and support replication.
  • Design, build, and maintain network by configuring routers/switches/firewalls; audit IPs.
  • Improve network performance and enforce standards with stakeholders.
  • Enforce security policies and continuous monitoring.

Job description

Nightwing provides technically advanced full-spectrum cyber, data operations, systems integration and intelligence mission support services to meet our customers' most demanding challenges. Nightwing is supporting a U.S. Government customer to provide support for onsite incident response to civilian Government agencies and critical asset owners who experience cyber-attacks, providing immediate investigation and resolution. Contract personnel perform investigations to characterize of the severity of breaches, develop mitigation plans, and assist with the restoration of services. Nightwing is seeking a motivated network engineer to implement, maintain and support the lab network infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Leverage advanced analytical and technical skills to design and implement infrastructure solutions that enhance mission execution and support command decision-making.
  • Support the integration of new technologies and equipment within lab environments, including development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies.
  • Assess network topology and device configurations, identify critical security vulnerabilities, and recommend security best practices.
  • Provide user support for Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) such as Citrix, as well as MacOS and iOS platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve a broad range of technical issues, from basic to complex network problems
  • Implement granular access controls, monitor system performance and accessibility, establish and maintain backup protocols, and ensure system security.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex enterprise storage issues across local and wide area networks, including replication strategy support and remediation of storage-related incidents.
  • Design, build, and maintain robust network environments by configuring routers, switches, and firewalls, as well as updating network devices and performing IP address audits.
  • Ensure optimal network performance by troubleshooting issues, enforcing system standards, and collaborating with stakeholders to optimize infrastructure.
  • Secure network systems through policy enforcement, access controls, and continuous monitoring.
Required Skills
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance, TS/SCI clearance is preferred
  • Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability
  • 5+ years of directly relevant experience in network administration
  • Proficiency with multiple operating systems, including Linux/Unix and MacOS
  • Strong knowledge and experience with routers, switches, and firewalls, and VPNs
  • Experience and knowledge of networking and network administration
  • Skilled in working with virtual desktop environments (Citrix, VMware)
  • Must also be able to work collaboratively across physical locations
Desired Skills
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco switches
  • Experience with converged infrastructure solutions (e.g., FlexPod) and NetApp storage systems
  • Proficiency with Cisco Intersight, vCenter, and virtualization automation/optimization
  • Strong documentation skills for technical procedures and SOPs
  • Capable of creating and maintaining network diagrams
  • Demonstrated experience in network design, implementation, and performance tuning
  • Project management capabilities and excellent time-management skills
  • Expertise in hardening network devices and infrastructure for enhanced security
Required Education

BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Systems Engineering or related degree; or HS Diploma and 7+ years network administration, network engineering or systems administration experience.

The salary associated with this position ($77,000-$163,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
