The Select Group is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to lead the migration, optimization, and routing of cell tower network infrastructure. This is a remote position operating on MST hours, with occasional travel as needed. Don't miss this opportunity—apply today!

High Level Project details:
We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer with expertise in cell tower network routing, migration, and optimization. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, implementing, and upgrading mobile network infrastructure, including IP/MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and LTE/5G backhaul. This role requires hands-on knowledge of migrating legacy cellular network infrastructure to modern fiber, microwave, and cloud-based solutions.

Shifts: Monday – Fri 8a – 5pm
Must Have Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering, cellular backhaul, or telecom infrastructure.
• Expertise in IP/MPLS, BGP, OSPF, and routing protocols for mobile network environments.
• Experience migrating cell tower networks from MPLS to modern fiber/IP architectures.
• Strong understanding of LTE, 5G, small cell, and fiber backhaul networking.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Nokia, Juniper, and Ericsson networking equipment.
• Proficiency in network automation (Python, Ansible, or Terraform).
• Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

Nice to Have Skills:

• CCNP (Routing & Switching or Service Provider) certification.
• Experience with 5G NR, Open RAN, and C-RAN architectures.
• Knowledge of edge computing, SDN, and NFV in telecom environments.
• Understanding of cloud-based networking solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP for telecom).

Day to day responsibilities:
Cell Tower Network Design & Migration:

• Plan and execute network migrations for cell tower infrastructure, ensuring minimal service disruption.
• Design and optimize routing and switching architectures for LTE, 5G, and backhaul networks.
• Conduct site surveys and network assessments to identify bottlenecks and upgrade requirements.
• Configure and maintain IP/MPLS, SD-WAN, and fiber transport networks.
• Work with vendors, carriers, and field engineers to deploy and integrate new network equipment.

Routing & Switching Implementation:

• Design and manage BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and segment routing (SR-MPLS) for cellular networks.
• Implement QoS, traffic engineering, and network resiliency strategies to optimize backhaul performance.
• Automate network configurations and monitoring using scripting (Python, Ansible) and network management tools.

Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

• Utilize network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, NetFlow, SNMP, Wireshark) to analyze and resolve performance issues.
• Troubleshoot packet loss, latency, jitter, and congestion across mobile transport networks.
• Implement failover, load balancing, and redundancy strategies to ensure high availability.

Security & Compliance:

• Ensure secure routing and firewall policies for mobile network traffic.
• Implement IPSec tunnels, VPNs, and secure edge computing solutions for remote tower sites.
• Maintain compliance with FCC, 3GPP, and industry security standards.
