Description
JSI invites you to join our team as a Network Engineer – RF/FWA Networks on our Network Engineering Services team in our Lubbock, TX office or remotely within the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area, where you'll play a critical role in advancing broadband and telecommunications initiatives that expand connectivity and drive digital inclusion—while advancing your career within a mission-driven, growth-focused organization.

Position Overview:

As a Network Engineer focused on RF/FWA networks, you will assist JSI’s clients with the design and implementation of wireless network elements in support of broadband service delivery. This position will leverage wireless planning tools to model networks and connections to provide designs and opinions of probable cost. Implementation assistance often includes equipment configuration as well as project management functions.

Responsibilities
  • Primary responsibilities will include analyzing, designing, and implementing RF-based systems such as Fixed Wireless Access networks and point-to-point or point-to-multipoint links.
  • Lead/manage projects of varying complexity, which may be cross-departmental.
  • Performing network upgrades and subscriber migrations.
  • Directly working with clients to troubleshoot issues in existing systems.
  • Documenting and diagramming networks, relevant processes, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Communicating technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Keeping up with industry developments, new technologies, and best practices.
  • Improving knowledge and expertise through independent research, practice, and industry-accepted certifications.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Requires three to five (3-5) years of experience in operating, troubleshooting, and/or designing RF networks.
  • Requires three years of experience working remotely and operating independently with minimal supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science, Computer/Management Information Systems, or similar, or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of experience in consulting or a similar job with strict timelines and set budgets is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of the rural/Tier 3-4 telecom industry, its operations and broad technical concepts is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of RF principles, proficiency with FWA and PTP/PMP systems, and understanding of networking concepts and IP networks is required.
  • Hands-on experience with RF equipment from vendors such as AirSpan, BaiCells, Cambium, Ericsson, Nokia, Tarana, Tecore, Telrad, Ubiquiti, and related management systems is required.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computers and Office product suite is required.
  • Good oral and written communication, the ability to work as part of a team, and excellent problem-solving skills are required.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, attention to detail, good judgment, and a desire to learn and apply what you learn immediately are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience and/or certification with CBRS is a plus.
