Ideal candidates have Cisco Catalyst 9000/8000 experience, experience at access and distribution layers, and SD-WAN/MEC familiarity. A technical degree with relevant work experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of two years of professional work experience.
  • Associate’s degree with a minimum of four years of professional technical work experience.
  • Minimum of six years of professional technical work experience required for individuals without a degree.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and installing Cisco switches and routers in enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain enterprise switching and routing infrastructure.
  • Operate independently on well-defined initiatives while collaborating within a broader engineering team.
  • Communicate proactively, document thoroughly, and integrate with a team‑based engineering environment.
  • Support on-site implementation and ongoing maintenance at the Rochester facility.

Job description

Our client is seeking a hands‑on Network Engineer to design, configure, and maintain enterprise switching and routing infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Someone who can operate independently on well‑defined initiatives while remaining a strong collaborator within a broader engineering team.
  • A self‑directed "doer" — someone who doesn't need hand‑holding to execute standard installs and configurations, but who also communicates proactively, documents thoroughly, and integrates well with a team‑based engineering environment. Networking Fundamentals:
  • Strong working knowledge of the OSI model, specifically Layers 1–3 (Physical, Data Link, Network)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and reason about network issues at the appropriate OSI layer Hardware & Platform
Required Skills:
  • Hands‑on experience configuring and installing Cisco switches — Catalyst C9000 series
  • Hands‑on experience configuring and installing Cisco routers — Catalyst C8000 series
  • Experience deploying equipment at both the access layer and distribution layer
  • Pro Desk API
Strongly Preferred Skills:
  • MEC (Multi‑Chassis EtherChannel) configuration experience
  • SD‑WAN deployment or administration experience
Education Required:
  • -Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of two (2) years of professional technical work experience.
    OR
    -Associate’s degree with a minimum of four (4) years of professional technical work experience.
    OR
    -Minimum of (6) years professional technical work experience required for individuals without a degree.
