Job Title: Network Engineer Lead
Duration: One year assignment with the opportunity for permanent placement.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM Remote work is possible after the first 6 months, no exceptions made.
Location: 100 East 11th Street, City Hall Annex, 37402, Chattanooga
Salary Range: $65,000.00 to $75,000.00 annually

Classification Summary
  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stable operation of the client's computer networks. The successful candidate will plan, develop, install, configure, maintain, support, and optimize network hardware, software, and communication links. Additionally, the candidate will analyze and resolve network-related hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate manner.
Essential Functions
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a primary expert for all networking initiatives during the contract term.
  • Deployment & Planning: Deploy LANs, WANs, and wireless networks (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.). Plan and execute new network build-outs and refresh existing equipment and cabling.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance, troubleshoot problem areas, maintain performance history, and provide statistical performance reports to the client.
  • Asset & Security Management: Perform network asset management, maintaining inventory, related documentation, and technical specifications. Assist in managing all network security solutions.
  • Installation & Upgrades: Install software and hardware on networking equipment and microcomputers. Ensure upgrades of all network hardware and related software are performed on schedule.
  • Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with third-party vendors for installations and assist with the purchasing/acquisition of network components and services.
  • Client Collaboration: Consult with end-users to understand network utilization and needs. Participate in necessary project meetings and briefings to convey and receive information.
  • Documentation: Assist in developing procedures and standards for network operations. Prepare and process a variety of reports, inventories, and documentation to comply with client procedures.
  • Compliance: Perform all tasks in alignment with industry best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of client data.
  • Task Management: Manage multiple concurrent tasks and project deliverables within a fast-paced environment.
Required Expertise & Technical Skills
  • SD/WAN & Protocols: Hands-on experience with SD/WAN technologies, IPSEC, VPLS, OSPF, VRFs, and expert knowledge of network and routing protocols.
  • Hardware: Strong familiarity with Cisco equipment, specifically Catalyst and Meraki lines. Expert knowledge of switch configuration and programming.
  • Firewalls: Expert knowledge of firewall administration (Zones and Policies). Checkpoint firewall experience is highly required.
  • Network Design: Expert knowledge of enterprise network designs and a complete understanding of the OSI model.
  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to define requirements, analyze problems, and propose/implement solutions. Ability to configure, test, and troubleshoot network equipment logically.
  • Work Style: A self-starter capable of working independently or collaborating seamlessly with the client's internal team. Highly adaptable to changing project requirements.
  • Continuous Learning: Stays current with new technologies and technical publications relevant to the contract scope.
  • Education & Experience: Four (4) years of professional experience in data communications, networking, troubleshooting, and repair. (Note: Equivalent combinations of technical training, education, and professional experience will be considered).
  • Licensing and Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise - preferred however not required
Work Environment & Contract Conditions
  • Work Setting: Work is generally performed indoors using computer equipment, though some outdoor configuration and installation may be required.
  • Physical Demands: Setup or maintenance of peripheral equipment may require working in restricted spaces (e.g., data rooms, wiring closets). The role involves occasional reaching, fingering, grasping, and moving objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Schedule & Availability: The candidate is expected to be available during standard business hours. Occasional schedule variations, after-hours work, or weekend availability may be requested to meet project deadlines or minimize network downtime.
  • Performance: Must be able to accomplish all essential functions and deliverables of the contract in a timely, professional manner.
