Description du poste

Location: Hybrid – Newark / Dover, Delaware Area | Occasional Onsite

Employment Type: Full-Time

Level: Mid-Level

Start Date: ASAP

Primary Focus: Microsoft Azure Networking, Terraform & Zscaler

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Network Engineer L2 to support a significant expansion and modernization of its enterprise network environment, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure networking.

The organization is actively moving more of its infrastructure into Azure and expanding its cloud footprint across both the East Coast and West Coast. As a result, the #1 requirement for this position is strong, hands‑on Azure networking experience.

The ideal candidate will have experience not only supporting Azure network environments, but also building and deploying Azure networking infrastructure using Terraform and reusable templates. This individual should be comfortable implementing infrastructure, troubleshooting complex connectivity issues, and supporting cloud expansion initiatives in a production enterprise environment.

In addition to Azure, the engineer will support Zscaler secure access technologies and may assist with Cisco routing and switching, firewalls, Meraki, WAN connectivity, SCADA networking, and other enterprise network technologies.

This is a hands‑on engineering position requiring someone who can independently troubleshoot complex issues, implement infrastructure changes, lead assigned technical initiatives, and coordinate effectively across internal technology teams and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key engineering resource supporting the organization's continued migration and expansion into Microsoft Azure.
  • Configure, deploy, support, and troubleshoot Azure networking services, including:
  • Virtual Networks (VNets)
  • Subnets
  • Route Tables
  • Network Security Groups (NSGs)
  • VPN connectivity
  • ExpressRoute
  • Hybrid cloud connectivity technologies
  • Support the continued expansion of Azure infrastructure across East Coast and West Coast environments.
  • Build and deploy Azure networking infrastructure using Terraform, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and reusable templates.
  • Create, maintain, and enhance infrastructure templates to improve consistency, scalability, and repeatability across Azure environments.
  • Support connectivity between on‑premises infrastructure, Azure environments, corporate locations, remote sites, and external services.
  • Participate in Azure regional expansion, cloud modernization, network resiliency, and disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Monitor Azure network health, connectivity, performance, and availability.
  • Troubleshoot complex Azure networking issues involving routing, VPNs, DNS, firewalls, hybrid connectivity, and application access.
  • Configure, support, and troubleshoot Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA).
  • Support ZIA web filtering, traffic forwarding, Internet access, security policies, and related configurations.
  • Support ZPA application access, application segments, server groups, and access policies.
  • Troubleshoot Zscaler Client Connector, authentication, application access, Internet access, and traffic forwarding issues.
  • Monitor Zscaler connectivity, performance, availability, and platform health.
  • Partner with Security, Endpoint, and Application teams to troubleshoot and resolve secure access issues.
Enterprise Network Engineering & Operations
  • Troubleshoot complex routing, switching, VPN, DNS, firewall, WAN, cloud connectivity, and application access issues.
  • Implement network infrastructure changes using established configuration and change management processes.
  • Participate in network upgrades, migrations, platform expansion, lifecycle management, and vulnerability remediation initiatives.
  • Assist with Cisco routing and switching, firewalls, Meraki, WAN, SCADA networking, and other Network Engineering initiatives as needed.
  • Participate in incident response, problem management, root cause analysis, and outage resolution.
  • Provide technical escalation support to Network Engineer L1 and other operational support resources.
  • Participate in the Network Engineering on‑call rotation and provide support for critical infrastructure incidents as required.
  • Lead assigned technical implementations and coordinate project activities with internal teams, vendors, carriers, and service providers.
  • Utilize Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles to automate and standardize network infrastructure deployments.
  • Develop and maintain reusable templates and deployment standards for Azure networking environments.
  • Collaborate with Server, Security, Endpoint, Application, Service Desk, and other technology teams.
  • Maintain network diagrams, IP addressing information, configuration standards, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Recommend improvements to network reliability, security, performance, automation, resiliency, and operational processes.
  • Manage multiple technical activities and projects simultaneously.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong hands‑on Microsoft Azure networking experience – this is the #1 technical requirement for the position.
  • Experience designing, deploying, supporting, and troubleshooting enterprise Azure network environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with Azure networking technologies such as:
  • Virtual Networks (VNets)
  • Subnets and Route Tables
  • Network Security Groups (NSGs)
  • VPN connectivity
  • Virtual WAN
  • ExpressRoute
  • Hands‑on experience with Terraform, including creating templates and deploying infrastructure into Azure environments.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and repeatable/automated infrastructure deployment practices.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, NAT, and network troubleshooting.

  • Experience deploying Azure networking infrastructure across multiple regions or geographic locations.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, REST APIs, or additional network/cloud automation tools.
  • Experience supporting SCADA or other operational technology networking environments.
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure, Terraform, Zscaler, Cisco, or other networking certifications.
Position Scope
  • Mid‑level Network Engineer capable of independently troubleshooting, implementing, and supporting enterprise network technologies.
  • Azure networking will be the primary initial focus, supporting the organization's continued cloud migration and East Coast/West Coast expansion.
  • Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience is important, with an expectation that this engineer can create templates and deploy Azure infrastructure rather than solely support existing environments.
  • Zscaler will be another important component of the role, particularly around secure Internet and private application access.
  • Engineers may support other network platforms, technologies, projects, and operational responsibilities based on evolving business needs.
  • Expected to provide technical escalation support and contribute to network standards, automation, documentation, and operational procedures.
