Compensation: $85,600 - $139,100.00

Duties

The Network Engineer's role is to ensure the stability and integrity of all Health System data communication, including voice, video, wireless, and network services. Responsibilities include planning, designing, developing LANs and WANs, and supporting network hardware and software, diagnosing and resolving network issues, and providing training.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Assess network capacity needs with leadership.
  2. Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans, respond to outages.
  3. Document network configurations, processes, and service records.
  4. Develop policies, procedures, and training for network management.
  5. Design and deploy LANs, WANs, wireless networks, including hardware components.
  6. Research network products, protocols, and standards.
  7. Oversee hardware and software upgrades.
  8. Negotiate with vendors and contractors for network services and products.
  9. Configure networks for optimal operation.
  10. Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues.
  11. Respond to network connectivity problems.
  12. Ensure connectivity of servers, workstations, and network devices.
  13. Manage network assets and documentation.
  14. Test and report on network performance.
  15. Manage network security solutions.
  16. Guide junior team members.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Information Systems or related field + 6 years of experience, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with LAN, WAN, WLAN design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP).
  • Experience with network capacity planning and security principles.
  • Application support experience with Nessus, NAC, Network Management Systems.
  • Technical knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Experience with firewalls and security protocols.
  • Ability to operate network analyzers and testing tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of organizational goals and data privacy laws (HIPAA, PCI).
  • Preferred: College diploma or degree in computer science, CCNP certification.
  • Strong communication skills, research ability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to install equipment and be on call after hours.
