Job summary

MI Technical Solutions in Bremerton, WA is seeking a qualified IT/network professional to provide functional and empirical analysis related to the planning, design, installation, and implementation of the network infrastructure.

You will perform maintenance of file servers and network devices, mitigate potential attacks, and work with end users and vendors to resolve issues, including training for LAN/WAN usage.

Qualifications

• DoD Security Clearance or eligibility.
• 2–4 years of related experience.
• Security+ CE certification.
• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, EE, NET Eng, or Tech Eng.
• Extensive knowledge of Internet, routers, switches, firewall, etc.
• Networking systems knowledge: LAN, firewalls, routers, servers, printers.
• Ability to troubleshoot Wi-Fi and security infrastructure.
• Time management and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Health Checks - Maintains and evaluates network systems and communications.
• Assists network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies.
• Assists in the installation and maintenance of network communications.
• Configures various network devices and services.
• Troubleshoots the network issues within established guidelines.
• Works on projects/matters of moderate complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.
• Performs health checks on the system, ensures proper operation, and verifies successful data backups.
• Generate reports for management review detailing the status of the temporary systems supported on a routine basis.

Job Summary

Provides functional and empirical analysis related to the planning, design, installation, and implementation of the network infrastructure.

Job Duties

Performs maintenance of file servers and network devices including the restoration of hardware and software. Anticipates and mitigates potential attacks through network or other connections to ensure the security of the system. Works with end users and vendors to resolve network hardware and software issues. May develop and administer end-user training to achieve efficient utilization of LAN/WAN. Reviews progress and evaluate results.

Technical Skills:

• eSOMS/eTagout– Assists in creating and deploying a stand-alone tagout system. Expected to help provision, configure and network sever/client laptops.
• LAN Migrations – Performs the entry level duties to support the lead engineer. These included assisting with initial configuration of the server and NAS unit hardware, connecting devices to the ship’s network, configuring and connecting tempLAN network switches and UCK routers. Has a general understanding and familiarity of hypervisor software (VMWare, ESXi, Hyper-V)
• Media type connections – Expected to have the baseline capability of creating custom Cat5e/6 cabling to support varied applications.
• Troubleshooting – Performs basic level troubleshooting with general understanding of switching networks, routing protocols and the OSI model. Expected to perform basic layer 1 troubleshooting and ping tests and consults migration lead engineer for guidance.
• Network Types – Gains familiarity with the variety of Navy networks (e.g.CANES, ADNS) and vessel platforms.

Requirements:

• Requires 2 to 4 years of related experience.
• Security+ CE Certification
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Network Engineering, or Technology Engineering
• Must have extensive knowledge of the Internet, computer, routers, switches,firewall, etc.
• Detailed knowledge of networking systems such as LAN, firewalls, routers, servers, and printers
• Hold active clearance or eligible or clearance.
• Ability to troubleshoot Wi-Fi and security infrastructure.
• Time management and critical thinking skills
