Job summary

Alabama ONE Credit Union is seeking a Network Engineer II to design, secure, and operate our network infrastructure within a regulated financial environment. You will lead and mentor teams, ensure compliance with FFIEC, GLBA, and SOC 2, and drive modernization and resilience across LAN/WAN/VPN.

The role requires 5–8+ years in network engineering, strong routing/switching expertise (BGP, OSPF, VLANs), and experience with security, cloud networking, and vendor management.

Qualifications

• Lead design, implementation, and lifecycle management of secure network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless).
• Serve as technical lead for network initiatives including modernization and secure access architecture.
• Supervise and mentor Network Engineer I staff with task delegation and performance guidance.
• Ensure network architecture aligns with regulatory requirements (FFIEC, GLBA, SOC 2).
• Develop, implement and enforce network security standards including firewall policies and segmentation.
• Partner with Information Security for risk assessments, vulnerability remediation, and audits.
• Oversee network monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis with timely resolution.

Network Engineer II serves as a senior technical leader responsible for the design, security, and operational integrity of the organization’s network infrastructure in a regulated financial environment. This role combines advanced engineering expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring the network supports secure, compliant, and resilient business operations. The position plays a critical role in safeguarding sensitive financial data, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting business continuity objectives.

• Advanced routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP). Strong knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and segmentation.
• Experience with secure network design in compliance-driven environments.
• Familiarity with cloud networking (Azure, AWS) and hybrid architectures.
• Experience with network monitoring, logging, and alerting tools. Experience with Palo Alto Networks, HPE Aruba Networking, Aruba Edgeconnect SDWan, Radware ADC Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5–8+ years of network engineering experience, preferably within a financial institution or regulated industry.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams or projects.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation to support audits, including network diagrams, configurations, and change records.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and develop technical staff.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a risk-sensitive environment.
• Experience supporting audits and regulatory examinations.
