Job description

The Network Engineering team designs, automates, and supports the global network powering Akamai's products and services, ensuring optimal connectivity and performance for customers and the compute platform.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain the global network infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define data models and functional requirements.
• Configure BGP and troubleshoot complex peering relationships.
• Implement new hardware platforms and network features within the automation framework.
• Act as the subject‑matter expert and final escalation point for production network issues.
• Create and maintain clear documentation and procedures.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in IP network design and scalable BGP routing architecture.
• Strong understanding of data‑center architecture, CLOS fabric, and overlay technologies such as VxLAN and EVPN.
• Experience managing and troubleshooting multi‑vendor environments (Juniper, Cisco, BIRD, FRR, Cumulus).
• Deep understanding of end‑to‑end data flows and traffic patterns.
• Highly organized self‑starter comfortable working with cross‑functional teams.

Compensation

For US‑based candidates only, the base salary ranges from $88,900 to $160,100 per year, with additional incentive compensation, equity awards, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) available. Compensation for non‑US candidates varies. Detailed eligibility requirements apply.
