Maximus is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support and maintain F5 BIG-IP systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across critical infrastructure. This role requires hands-on expertise in F5 modules (LTM, GTM, APM, ASM), deep knowledge of network protocols, and experience implementing secure, scalable traffic management solutions. This position is fully remote and strongly prefers an active Public Trust. Candidates who don't currently have an active Public Trust must be able to obtain one. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing daily operational support and troubleshooting for F5 BIG-IP systems (LTM, GTM, APM, ASM)
  • Managing deployment, configuration, and tuning of F5 appliances and virtual instances
  • Designing and implementing traffic management policies, iRules, SSL offloading, health monitors, and virtual servers
  • Collaborating with application, network, and security teams to deliver secure and optimized services
  • Performing software upgrades, patches, and system backups
  • Monitoring system performance and conducting capacity planning
  • Ensuring compliance with federal security standards (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proficiency in LTM, GTM / DNS, APM, and ASM modules
  • Strong understanding of TCP / IP, HTTP / S, DNS, SSL / TLS, SNMP, and Layer 4-7 protocols
  • Experience with iRules and Traffic Policies
  • Familiarity with SSO / MFA integrations (e.g., SAML, OAuth)
  • Hands-on experience with F5 upgrades, HA clustering, and firmware management
  • Proficiency with tools such as Wireshark, Splunk, CLI, and REST APIs

Years of Required Work-Related Experience: 3-5+ years

Required Certifications: None required, but F5 experience must be verifiable

Preferred Key Skills and Abilities:

  • F5 Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) or Certified Solution Expert (CSE)
  • Experience supporting F5 in hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible, Terraform)
  • Experience with government compliance frameworks (FISMA, FedRAMP, TIC 3.0)
