Network Engineer (CCNA)

Peraton Global Health and Financial Solutions sector is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Woodlawn, MD.

This Network Engineer will be working on cutting‑edge network design and operations, supporting various customers within Health Solutions. The role involves engineering expertise for complex multi‑service networking, including engineering, deployment, and operations for a large government customer in Baltimore, Maryland. The position requires implementing field installations and upgrades for nationwide deployments and may require 25% to 50% travel to domestic customer locations, with regular on‑site work at the customer location and warehouse.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Survey network requirements of remote customer offices, campus buildings, and data centers; define equipment, cables, adapters, and configurations needed to upgrade buildings and sites to established standards.
  • Analyze current network configurations and determine implementation requirements.
  • Configure routing protocols, complex switch networks, and Fabric Path configurations.
  • Prepare network equipment for deployment by loading appropriate software and configuration settings according to pre‑engineered design templates.
  • Assemble required equipment, cables, adapters, and arrange delivery to site for installation.
  • Upgrade configuration of existing network equipment to support new features and functions.
  • Work with field installation contractors while they are on‑site and provide all technical details to complete installations.
  • Continually review the customer’s network and practices to identify opportunities to enhance network functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Assist in evaluating potential network products or technical solutions.
  • Test LAN/WAN equipment software (e.g., IOS, NXOS).
  • Contribute to the development of network documentation, including diagrams, standards, specifications, and operating procedures.
  • Monitor for opportunities to enhance the customer network/system performance or reliability.
  • Monitor for opportunities to improve customer service delivery practices.
  • Perform on‑going management of network installation and upgrade projects and maintain deployment schedules.
  • Provide guidance to team members and deliver status metrics to Government customers and Peraton management.
  • Provide third‑level support and troubleshooting of network problems, including periodic after‑hours and weekend support.
  • Maintain and extend expertise in applicable areas of network and computer hardware and software technology.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree and 2 years of experience or Associate’s Degree with 4 years of experience; 6 years of relevant work experience with HS diploma.
  • Cisco CCNA or equivalent level of Cisco Certification.
  • Hands‑on network experience configuring routing protocols and switching configuration in medium to large enterprise networks.
  • Experience in network connectivity for Cisco LAN and WAN networking equipment and software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics to management and non‑technical audiences and interface with the customer daily.
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Position requires regular on‑site work at the customer location and warehouse. Must reside close to Woodlawn, MD.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • Prior experience supporting the Social Security Administration or similar government agencies.
  • Understanding of SSA business processes supporting IT programs, networks, and/or cybersecurity programs.
  • Passed the Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP).
  • Hands‑on experience with Cisco NXOS.
  • Hands‑on experience with Cisco IDS and IPS products.
  • Prior hands‑on experience with Cisco network automation such as Python scripting and Cisco PRIME Infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of wide‑area network technologies.
  • Knowledge of local area network technologies such as Ethernet, wireless LAN, and the physical media and equipment associated with each.
  • Knowledge of IP routing protocols and implementations.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve network problems.
Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
