Overview
We are seeking a Network Engineer 4 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. As part of the SES Strategic Business Unit, you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates, and maintains electronic security services inclusive of intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio‑visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command‑and‑control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers across high‑growth markets. This position supports the U.S. Air Force Education and Training Center.

Responsibilities
- Technical:
- Survey reports and measurement results in actionable form to senior personnel and management.
- Conduct surveys, inspections, and tours of client sites as required.
- Design:
- Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment, and devices.
- Work closely with field engineers to simulate expected system‑level performance and provide feedback on potential improvements.
- Assist senior network engineers to identify and resolve network security issues.
- Develop network designs for each SLA classification and produce design documents for small projects and large programs.
- Prepare specifications, perform QA/QC, and conduct technical reviews of designs.
- Author test plans, supervise testing activities, and prepare commissioning procedures and reports.
- Commission deployed systems and develop test fixtures and simulation devices.
- Service & Maintenance:
- Troubleshoot and debug complex network problems and recommend operational efficiency improvements.
- Perform preventative maintenance (software/hardware/firmware upgrades) and security updates.
- Submit maintenance plans and provide rollback procedures.
- Serve as backup for team members during PTO.
- Handle hardware/software upgrades and replacements on existing systems.
- Support a 24/7 on‑call schedule.
- System Analysis and Reporting:
- Document troubleshooting procedures for network operations.
- Apply moderate networking administration knowledge to business operations.
- Assist team members in resolving basic to moderate network/telecom issues.
- Interpret results versus established benchmarks and goals.
- Collaborate with project managers to meet expectations and deadlines.
- Conduct research on available technologies and products.
- Managerial:
- Prepare cost estimates and supporting documents for projects.
- Assist senior engineers in bids, proposals, and change‑order pricing.
- Develop and adapt network documentation, procedures, and formal processes.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to define interfaces and work.
Qualifications
- Clearance/Citizen Type: Applicants must be U.S. citizens. ACTIVE SECRET Clearance is required.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or a related discipline and 7+ years of progressive experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Understanding of ITIL concepts and security implications for network solutions.
- Knowledge of network concepts, technologies, tools, and the ability to design an organization’s network infrastructure and services.
- Familiarity with system development methodology, project management, and analytical/problem‑solving skills.
- Communication Skills:
- Strong oral, technical writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build productive relationships with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
- Ability to establish relationships with others outside area of expertise.
- Behavioral Skills:

- Preferred Experience:
- Reading network and connectivity schematics and plans.
- Network system startup, configuration, and calibration.
- Testing and troubleshooting.
- Use of basic electrical and machinist hand tools.
- Use of testing, calibration, or industry‑specific tools and software (spectrum analyzer, cable tester, alignment tool).
- Ticketing and monitoring toolsets.
- Knowledge of Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, or Arista platforms.
- Proficiency with Visio, Wireshark, Putty, CLI, etc.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and STIG applications to network systems.
