Job summary

Forbes Technical Consulting in Wood Dale, IL seeks a Network Engineer for a 24+ month contract. The role is onsite four days a week with 20–25% travel domestically and internationally; expects expertise in Cisco/FortiGate, SD-WAN, and data migration during M&A activities.

You will design and implement hybrid networks (on‑prem and cloud) and manage Cisco infrastructure, ISE, routers, and switches to support a multi‑VLAN environment, including Windows/VMware contexts.

Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years’ work experience in a Network Consultant/Engineer role.
• Must 3+ years experience in Cisco and FortiGate technologies.
• Experience with M&A network integration, including data migration and app alignment.
• Experience designing/implementing/administrating FortiGate SD-WAN networks.
• Knowledge of Cisco infrastructure management, control, and monitoring best practices.
• Knowledge of routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS.
• Experience with hybrid networks (on-prem and cloud: Azure, AWS).
• Working knowledge of Cisco ISE environments and Cisco WIFI configuration.
• Ability to connect hardware to multiple WAN technologies and multi-VLAN environments.
• Experience with Windows and VMware environments.

Required Skills

• Must have 5+ years’ work experience in a Network Consultant/Engineer role
• Must 3+ years experience in Cisco and FortiGate technologies
• Ability to support network integration efforts related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including infrastructure consolidation, data migration, and application alignment across acquired entities.
• Previous experience designing\implementing\administrating FortiGate SD-WAN network
• Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of Cisco infrastructure
• Good Knowledge and experience with routing protocols like EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS
• Experience with hybrid network design\administration, on-prem and cloud environments like Azure and AWS
• Working knowledge of Cisco ISE environments
• Configuration and monitoring of Cisco WIFI networks
• Ability to set up and configure hardware connections to different WAN technologies
• Experience in configuration of Cisco Routers and Switches to support a multi - VLAN, environment
• Experience working in Windows and VMware environments
