Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to build and administer all information technology related network infrastructure for a group managing data center, network, data, voice, and telephony infrastructure. The role involves supporting these systems and responding to outages within established SLAs. The Level IV position requires expert knowledge in specialized network technologies and availability on mobile phone. Support includes monthly Saturday maintenance and off-hours software deployments for network changes.

Scope of Work

• Design, implement, and document new infrastructure including data centers, wireless and wired networks, load balancing, voice, telephony, wiring, and UPS. Follow procedures, change management, and ensure disaster recovery readiness. Projects driven by various IT and business groups (50%).
• Maintain network and systems, manage product roadmaps, establish maintenance procedures, collaborate with Systems Administrators and Security teams for compliance (20%).
• Monitor infrastructure by setting up alerts, notifications, and reports, guiding proactive monitoring with Systems Administrators (20%).
• Respond to Tier 2 service desk tickets and outages per SLA (10%).

Technical Skills

• Wireless network technologies, especially Cisco management controllers.
• Implementing QoS for video and voice.
• Cisco phone systems, Cisco UCS, Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, Azure).
• Network security, BGP, Firewall administration, VMware.
• Microsoft Active Directory, communication circuits, compliance standards (NIST, FISMA).
• Mentoring Network Engineers is a plus.

Additional Skills

• Effective communication, documentation, teamwork, project management, customer service, and organizational skills.
• Physical ability to lift 15-25 pounds.
