Job summary

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is looking for a Network Engineer II responsible for planning and leading the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and at least 4 years of network administration experience, alongside CCNA certification.

Qualifications

Overview

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is hiring a Network Engineer II to plan and lead the installation, configuration, documentation, and maintenance of network infrastructure devices and software, including routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead installation, configuration, documentation, and maintenance of network infrastructure devices and software.
• Ensure high availability and security of network equipment.
• Conduct Business Recovery activities, including providing network redundancy and participating in semi‑annual recovery tests.
• Collaborate with vendors and departmental personnel to resolve production issues.
• Work with Server Engineering and Information Security to respond to and resolve network availability, performance, and security issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4 years experience in a network administration role.
• CCNA required, CCNP preferred.
• Experience with Cisco routers and switches.
• Experience with Cisco Nexus and Fiber Channel equipment preferred.
• Experience with FortiGate firewalls preferred.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office and graphical documentation tools.
• Comprehensive understanding of network protocols, applications, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Experience with network diagnostic troubleshooting and monitoring tools.
• Experience with Wireshark, Cisco ISE, Cisco DCNM, and Solarwinds Orion preferred.
