We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join a professional services organization in Roseland, NJ. This is a hands-on role combining network engineering, systems administration, infrastructure support, and technical troubleshooting.
The Network Engineer will help maintain and support the organization’s technology environment across networking, firewalls, switches, Microsoft 365, identity management, endpoints, and security systems. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, implementing new technologies, and working directly with users and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and other network infrastructure
- Troubleshoot networking issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and wireless environments
- Administer Active Directory and Azure AD / Microsoft Entra ID, including users, permissions, group policies, and role-based access
- Support Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive
- Manage and maintain firewalls, network security solutions, and related infrastructure
- Provide escalated technical support for complex end-user issues
- Manage endpoint devices and patch deployment across desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
- Support print servers and enterprise printing environments
- Maintain accurate IT documentation and system configurations
- Track and resolve requests through the ticketing system while meeting established SLAs
- Coordinate with outside vendors for technical escalations and issue resolution
- Assist with infrastructure upgrades, system improvements, and new technology deployments
- Identify opportunities to improve or automate IT workflows
- Support security best practices and vulnerability remediation efforts
- Travel to additional locations when onsite technical support is required
- Participate in occasional after-hours, weekend, or holiday on-call support as needed
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in IT support, systems administration, network engineering, or infrastructure support
- Strong knowledge of Windows environments, Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365
- Hands-on experience supporting network infrastructure, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks
- Experience with networking and security technologies from Cisco, Aruba, Ruckus, Juniper, Meraki, Fortinet, and/or Palo Alto Networks
- Palo Alto experience strongly preferred
- Experience managing endpoint fleets and patch management systems
- Experience with enterprise printing and print servers
- Familiarity with scripting and automation using PowerShell and/or Python
- Understanding of identity management, endpoint protection, cybersecurity, and access controls
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to support both technical and non-technical users
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE/NGFE, Microsoft SC-200, MD-102, or similar certifications are preferred
- $75,000–$90,000 base salary, depending on experience and qualifications
