Network Engineer

Essential Functions:

• Verify stability and portability of networks and software
• Communicate project information through technical reports
• Perform ongoing hardware and software maintenance operations, including installing or upgrading hardware or software
• Provide technical guidance or support for the development or troubleshooting of systems
• Work on field testing on 3GPP standards based on cellular systems such as GSM, EDGE, WCDMA, HSPA, LTE, and 5G. The testing includes various mobility and stationary RF, Data, and Software test cases in the field and lab of 5G, LTE, WCDMA, UMTS, GSM, or related network services
• Research, test, monitor, or verify proper functioning of software patches
• Analyze and determine issues; check issue history, design test plans (location, models, parameters, considerations), conduct field or lab tests, set test environments and parameters regarding network circumstances
• Capture logs, analyze them, determine issue resolution, prepare professional reports, and communicate with R&D or QA teams
• Perform testing and engineering services in both stationary and mobility conditions as needed
• Support carrier lab testing by project needs and other duties as assigned
• May require weekend/holiday work depending on project
• Must be flexible and able to work extended hours as needed to support testing and client needs
• Travel up to 50% per project requirements

Education and Technology Skill Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Electronics, Software Engineering, Communication, Computer Network Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Telecommunications
• Understanding of telecommunication knowledge and Android platform devices
• Proficiency in analytical, scientific, data mining, and database management software
• Experience with access software, cloud-based management software, and communication server software
• Strong knowledge of 5G, LTE, HSPA+/WCDMA including PHY/MAC, signaling, call processing, and upper layers
• Understanding of GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, CDMA, HSPA, LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and mobile phone software architecture
• Experience analyzing logs and troubleshooting issues from the field for UMTS/GSM CS, PS calls, LTE/5G data calls; familiarity with tools like Shannon DM, QXDM, QPST, XCAL, XCAP is a plus
• Experience with transport layer protocols such as TCP and UDP, and analysis tools like Wireshark
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Knowledge of network protocols and wireless technologies (5G, LTE, GSM, CDMA)
• Understanding of TCP/UDP, IP packets, OSI model
• Solid understanding of software testing methodologies
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as ADB shell scripting
• Pay Range: $20/hr - $35/hr
