Job summary

Jobtailor in Ohio is seeking a Network Engineer to monitor performance, manage security controls, and lead LAN/WAN upgrades across the enterprise. You will document designs, implement VPNs, and drive improvements in availability and fault isolation.

Job description

Monitor network performance and availability; investigate alerts, identify root cause, and resolve escalated issues
Configure and maintain network monitoring and logging to improve visibility and reduce MTTR
Implement and administer network security controls, including firewall rules, ACLs, segmentation, and VPN
Participate in security reviews, vulnerability remediation, incident response, audits, and compliance activities
Design, implement, and document LAN/WAN solutions
Evaluate LAN topologies, routing/switching approaches, and network operating systems/features
Lead or co-lead network upgrades and new deployments, including implementation and rollback plans
Perform advanced troubleshooting across switching, routing, wireless, and related services
Administer network infrastructure, including configuration management, maintenance, fault isolation, and standards implementation
Perform backup/restore activities for network device configurations and maintain inventory and documentation
Support lifecycle management, including patching, hardware refresh, and decommissioning
Deliver enterprise-wide projects by owning network workstreams and coordinating with stakeholders
Develop implementation documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooks
Contribute to post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement
Provide knowledge transfer to operations and mentor Network Engineer I team members
Pursue continuing education, maintain relevant certifications, and complete assigned training

Requirements

Associate degree in Information Technology, Networking, Computer Science, or related field, along with at least 2 years’ related experience
Non-degree considered if 6+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
Occasional travel (0-5%)
Valid passport or ability to obtain one if needed
Good working knowledge of network protocols and services, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
Knowledge of routing and switching concepts, wireless, and network monitoring tools
Experience with firewall administration and VPN technologies
Cisco CCNA; CCNP (or equivalent) preferred
Reasonable driving commute to the New Bremen, OH location is necessary (1-2 hours)
Legally authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not provided
