Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is seeking an experienced Network Engineer in Lexington, KY to own enterprise network troubleshooting and architecture across a mult-site environment. You will influence strategy, drive SD-WAN initiatives, and mentor junior network staff while supporting modernization efforts and Zero Trust projects.

The role focuses on high-level design decisions, large-scale routing and switching, and collaboration with the Infrastructure team to shape future network solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years enterprise network engineering experience.
• CCNP certification required; CCIE preferred.
• Extensive Cisco routing and switching at CCNP/CCIE level.
• Strong SD-WAN experience (VeloCloud or similar).
• Experience with Azure cloud networking.
• Ability to influence technical strategy and architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own enterprise-level network troubleshooting and architecture decisions across 20+ locations in 9 states.
• Drive SD-WAN strategy and evaluate future networking technologies.
• Support modernization initiatives including identity modernization and Zero Trust implementation.
• Provide mentorship to Network Administrator I and II team members.
• Serve as secondary escalation point for complex network issues.
• Document network architecture, design decisions, and technical standards.

Role Expectations

This role is designed for an experienced network professional who can independently resolve complex technical challenges, make sound architectural decisions, and operate with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have the ability to influence technical strategy, drive improvements, and serve as a trusted resource for the Infrastructure team.

This position does not include formal management responsibilities but will provide mentorship and guidance to Network Administrator I and II team members on advanced networking issues.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of enterprise network engineering experience


• CCNP certification required; CCIE preferred


• Extensive Cisco routing and switching experience at the CCNP/CCIE level


• Strong experience with SD-WAN technologies (VeloCloud or similar solutions)


• Extensive experience with Azure cloud networking


• Demonstrated ability to contribute to technical strategy and architecture decisions, not just execute predefined solutions
