Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, deploy, and support enterprise wired network infrastructure.
• Support data center, LAN, WAN, routing, switching, wireless, firewall, VPN, and network-security environments.
• Lead network projects through discovery, design, implementation, testing, and completion.
• Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies.
• Monitor network performance and telemetry to identify risks, outages, and opportunities for improvement.
• Perform root-cause analysis of complex network and infrastructure failures.
• Coordinate major deployments and upgrades with internal departments, vendors, and technical partners.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, inventories, and technical documentation.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders during projects and outages.
• Participate in an on-call rotation covering approximately three to four weeks per year.

Advantage Technical is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support in Knoxville, Tennessee. This position will primarily support data center and wired network infrastructure while contributing to the design, deployment, maintenance, and continued evolution of enterprise networking solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on LAN/WAN engineering experience, advanced routing and switching knowledge, and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex network issues.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, deploy, and support enterprise wired network infrastructure.
• Support data center, LAN, WAN, routing, switching, wireless, firewall, VPN, and network-security environments.
• Lead network projects through discovery, design, implementation, testing, and completion.
• Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies.
• Monitor network performance and telemetry to identify risks, outages, and opportunities for improvement.
• Perform root-cause analysis of complex network and infrastructure failures.
• Support routers, switches, wireless controllers, access points, firewalls, NAC, IDS/IPS, gateways, and structured cabling.
• Coordinate major deployments and upgrades with internal departments, vendors, and technical partners.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, inventories, and technical documentation.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders during projects and outages.
• Participate in an on-call rotation covering approximately three to four weeks per year.

Required Qualifications

• Approximately six or more years of direct experience in network engineering or network administration.
• Associate degree or higher.
• Strong hands-on LAN/WAN, routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, and VLAN experience.
• Experience implementing and supporting routed IP and switched Ethernet networks.
• Working knowledge of BGP, OSPF, or comparable routing protocols.
• Experience configuring routers, switches, firewalls, ACLs, VPNs, and other network-security technologies.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot complex host, network, and connectivity issues.
• Experience contributing to large network deployments, upgrades, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
