Job summary

Laitram L.L.C. Information Technology Services Department is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and provide escalated support for our Global LAN/WAN environment under the IT Design & Delivery Manager.

The successful candidate will adapt the network for remote work and the growing use of internet-connected devices across our global manufacturing facilities, with opportunities to contribute to projects and after-hours work as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, MIS or related field or 7+ years of related work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an infrastructure environment.
  • Ability to scope and sequence IT projects.
  • Self-managed; able to work independently and in a global team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and provide 3rd level support for global systems including the Global MPLS Network.
  • Manage Global Routing Protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF).
  • Oversee Cloud Networking (AWS, Azure, Oracle).
  • Support Cisco-based LAN/WAN environments and VPNs.
  • Collaborate within the Infrastructure team and perform planned changes with minimal business impact.
  • Travel up to 10% as required.

Job description

Laitram L.L.C. Information Technology Services Department has an opening for a Network Engineer, reporting to the IT Design & Delivery Manager. The primary responsibilities for this position include the design, implementation, and escalated support of our Global LAN/WAN environment.

The successful candidate will have an understanding and enthusiasm to adapt our network for the demands of remote working, and continued proliferation of internet-connected devices in our global manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement and provide 3rd level support for various global systems, including, but not limited to:
  • Global MPLS Network
  • Global Routing Protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF)
  • Cloud Networking (AWS, Azure, Oracle)
  • Cisco based LAN/WLAN/WAN environment
  • Site-to-Site VPN/Remote access VPN
  • Operational Technology (OT) at our global manufacturing facilities
  • Load Balancing, CASB, Web Filtering, etc.
  • Cisco Nexus 7K, 5K and 2K
  • Fortinet FortiGate (NGFW)
  • Participate in projects intended to continually optimize our Network Infrastructure
  • Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness with a focus on business use-cases
  • Maintain effective communication with business-users and team members around design decisions, and implementation statuses and timelines
  • Author technical installation, configuration, and support documentation
  • Collaborate with peers on the Network team and as a member of the larger Infrastructure team
  • Perform planned system changes and upgrades with minimal impact to business operations which may require after hours or weekend work
  • Up to 10% travel for the purpose of project executions
Requirements
  • B. S. in Computer Science, MIS or related field; or 7+ years of related work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an infrastructure environment
  • Experience scoping and sequencing IT related projects
  • Self-managed; ability to work well independently and in a global team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned work according to business need and priorities
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to perform root cause analysisExcellent written and verbal skills
