Job description

SUMMARY

The Network Engineer ensures the security, stability, and integrity of MARA's mining site systems. Responsible for maintaining network devices such as switches, routers, and firewalls. Assists in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. Conducts research on solutions and recommends new technology solutions when appropriate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Manage enterprise systems and applications including VPN, Cisco, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, Perimeter 81.
• Configure and upgrade network switches using CLI commands; understand layer 2 connectivity, VLANs, Trunking/LAG, MAC addresses.
• Configure routers, understand routing concepts such as subnets, next hop, routing tables, and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
• Collaborate with Network Architect on the implementation and management of the company's network architecture across mining facilities.
• Research, analyze, and monitor network activity and efficiency; advise management on anomalies and security concerns.
• Maintain and optimize firewalls, LAN/WAN switching, and routing at multiple locations; maintain network logs.
• Support network security tools to ensure proper defenses for network resources.
• Document and diagram network topology, systems procedures, and architecture.
• Maintain and support enterprise IDS/IPS solutions and Advanced Malware Protection.
• Liaise with vendors during installations, hardware performance issues, warranty claims, and equipment purchases.
