Job summary

Resonant Sciences LLC in Dayton, Ohio seeks a Network Engineer to maintain and optimize our secure data communications network across on-prem and cloud environments.

The role requires 5+ years in enterprise networks, DoD 8140 certification, Fortinet proficiency, and hands-on AWS/Azure expertise, with a focus on security standards.

You will work independently in a fast-paced team, ensure robust and scalable network operations, and support mission-critical objectives.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with enterprise networks.
  • DoD 8140 certification required or ability to obtain.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, switching, VLANs, routing, wireless.
  • Familiar with BGP, MPLS, IPSec, VLANs, VPNs.
  • Experience with Fortinet appliances and CLI.
  • AWS/Azure cloud networking experience.
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-171, CMMC, FedRAMP standards.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, install, and maintain network devices and services (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Set up on-premise or cloud networks (AWS/Azure) end-to-end.
  • Troubleshoot VPN and firewall configurations for remote implementations.
  • Assist in network design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Analyze network hardware needs for current and future initiatives.
  • Monitor performance and align cybersecurity plans across the enterprise.
  • Provide technical assistance to teammates and end-users with complex issues.
  • Make upgrades and repairs for optimized operations.
  • Support workstation analysis and network security.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

Job description

Resonant Sciences LLC has an immediate opening for a Network Engineer to join our Dayton, Ohio team. The position provides an opportunity to join a fast-paced elite team whose primary mission is to support our Nation's War Fighters. The candidate for this position shall be a self-starter who can work independently, unsupervised, and with little guidance. The candidate will have an opportunity to be a member of a world-class team consisting of talented and dedicated engineers, technicians, and professionals who work together to interrupt and challenge the status quo to design and develop state-of-the-art technologies.

Duties And Responsibilities

We are seeking a Network Engineer to bring their expertise to maintain and optimize our network infrastructure. The Network Administrator must be able to maintain a reliable, secure, and efficient data communications network, and the ideal candidate will be able to deploy, configure, maintain, and monitor all active network equipment in order to ensure smooth network operation. You will also participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the organization and ensure that system hardware, operating systems, and software systems are fully operational. Must be a strong advocate for all disciplines within the security program, while at the same time ensuring the business needs are met. Requires the ability to make sound decisions, take independent action, analyze problems, and provide focused solutions. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate information to various audiences both verbally and through written communications.

The selected Network Engineer will have responsibility for the following areas:

  • Configuring, installing, and maintaining various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).
  • Setting up an on-premise or virtual network (cloud-based infrastructure in AWS/Azure) from start to finish.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve internet VPN remote implementations and firewall configurations.
  • Assist in network design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Analyze network hardware needs and requirements for existing and future company initiatives.
  • Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency) and be proficient in aligning cybersecurity plans across an enterprise network.
  • Provide technical assistance to teammates and end-users with complex network, hardware, and software issues.
  • Make needed upgrades and repairs to networks and ensure that systems are operating in an optimized configuration.
  • Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot network problems.
  • Provide support for workstation analysis, network administration and network security.
  • Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Networking Skills: Minimum of 5+ years’ experience working with enterprise level networks, in Data Centers and Corporate networks. Your skills will need to be competent in building, maintaining, and supporting firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless equipment.
  • Candidate must possess or have ability to obtain DoD 8140 compliant certification.
  • Strong Experience of Networking including TCP/IP, Switching, VLAN’s, Routing & Wireless
  • Understand network architectures, topologies, and networking services and protocols (e.g. BGP, MPLS, TCP/IP, IPSec, VLANs, VPNs, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with Fortinet appliances and the ability to work within the CLI, are a strong plus.
  • Possess or obtain a Fortinet NSE Level 4 Certification within 6 months.
  • In-depth, advanced understanding of the AWS/Azure ecosystem and technologies and how to apply them in reliable and efficient means are a strong plus.
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of NIST 800-171 (rev2/3), CMMC, FedRAMP standards, data privacy, and laws.
  • Experience with Fortinet network appliances is a plus.
  • Experience with DoD networks (CV2, JWICS) is a plus.
Citizenship/Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required. Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance required. Active clearance preferred.
