Job summary

SGS Consulting seeks a network engineer to support the Lab's classified networks, contributing to operations and configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking devices. You will troubleshoot issues, prepare and maintain network documentation, and participate in architecture, optimization, and testing activities within a secure environment.

Qualifications

• Secret clearance required for work in classified environment.
• 5 years of experience in network application development (socket programming).
• 5 years of experience with General Dynamics Type 1 Encryptors.
• 5 years of configuring and managing Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto devices.
• 5 years of network architecture experience.
• 5 years of networking hardware experience (routers/switches/firewalls/servers).
• 5 years of Network Systems Analysis.
• 5 years in optimization of distribution networks.
• 5 years of networking applications and protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, DHCP, SSH, FTP, BGP and OSPF.
• Experience configuring and maintaining network infrastructure in a classified environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a team responsible for the operations of the Laboratory's enterprise classified networks.
• Assist in the day-to-day role of supporting the network infrastructure, which will include configuring and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking devices within the classified environment.
• Apply troubleshooting and analytical skills to assist with the diagnosis and resolution of network issues.
• Evaluate network hardware for STIG compliance.
• Support network architecture, configuration, management, and optimization activities.
• Conduct testing of network systems.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate network documentation, including operational instructions.
• Evaluate and report on network technologies to enhance network capabilities.
