Job summary

A technology and consulting firm is looking for a Network Engineer to lead architecture and design for complex networks in Ashburn, Virginia. This role involves collaborating with various teams, ensuring accurate documentation, and managing operations during critical events. Candidates should have strong knowledge of Cisco routing/switching products, Palo Alto networking, and cloud deployment, along with necessary certifications. The position may require travel to the East Coast for about 25% to 50% of the time.

Qualifications

• Ability to manage tickets and escalations during events.

Network Engineer

Location: Ashburn, VA.

Responsibilities

• Lead network architecture, design, testing, and implementation for a large complex, high profile, event-based network.
• Work across a large team of implementation and deployment engineers to ensure that designs are accurate, documented properly, and fully tested prior to deployment.
• Work as part of the network operations center following deployment during key events to manage tickets, escalations, and changes.
• Work with project managers and project leadership to communicate status and updates in an accurate and timely manner.
• Coordinate with other technology towers for testing and deployment including teams focused on security, Client, DHCP, Network Monitoring, and field ops.

Must Have Skills (Most Important)

• Expert knowledge of Cisco route/switch (9300, 9500, 9800) for both core and access devices including BGP, VRF design, VLAN design, QoS, etc.
• Working knowledge of Palo Alto Firewall networking, capabilities, and design criteria.
• Working knowledge of Multicast, DDoS products and configurations, Client, and DNS/DHCP.
• Working knowledge of deploying within AWS and AZURE cloud environments.
• Expert collaboration and communication skills, working well in a complex and dynamic environment.
• Ability to develop and maintain accurate, detailed, network documentation.
• Ability to travel, primarily to east coast locations (25% - 50%).

Desired Skills

• Prior experience in event-based networks.

Education/Certifications

• Certifications from Cisco including CCIEs would be preferred. Cloud or Palo Alto certifications would be good.
