Job Description

Supports the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle cloud computing environment (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - OCI). Primarily focused on development and support of network fabric and systems through a combination of a deep level understanding of networking at the protocol level coupled with programming skills to support the intensive automation required to operate a production environment. As OCI is a cloud-based network with a global footprint, this support will include supporting tens of thousands of network devices and servers, connected over a mix of dedicated network infrastructure and CLOS networks.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on improving the availability, latency, performance, efficiency, and capacity planning of entire services and ecosystems, with ownership of critical projects and services. As a leader within the team and a recognized subject matter expert by other teams, the individual will improve operational tooling, practices, deployment processes, and support hiring and mentoring efforts. They will collaborate closely across teams, own improvements on KPIs and SLOs, and drive down sources of operational pain. The role involves driving operational maturity across the director's organization and managing technology migrations for major components. Additionally, responsibilities include organizing incident management procedures, owning and driving projects, and collaborating on cross-team efforts when appropriate. The individual will serve as a specialized escalation point for outage events, conduct root cause analysis, lead post-event actions, and resolve complex system issues. They will also develop new metrics and dashboards to optimize operations and provide operational assessments for incoming systems, advising on integration options. The role may involve organizing technical milestones, coordinating tasks, and advising leadership while collaborating with other teams within the same organization. As a technical lead on moderately complex projects, the individual will handle project requirements, specifications, and documentation. They will serve as a Tier 2 or specialized escalation point for network events, develop automation scripts for complex tasks, and may take the lead on network automation projects. Additionally, they will provide technical guidance to staff, coach junior members, and collaborate with vendor engineering and account managers to address business and operational issues.
