Job summary

The City of Iowa City’s Library Information Technology team seeks a NetworkDatabase Specialist to oversee local and wide area networks, including server and database infrastructure.

Responsibilities include installing and maintaining servers, managing virtual and cloud environments, ensuring internet connectivity, and participating in on-call tech help rotations. This is a permanent full-time position with a weekday schedule and rotating evening/weekend duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution and two years of related experience; or Master's degree and one year of related experience or six years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Education in management information systems or computer science.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Undergeneral supervision, manages the Library's local and wide area networks, including physical and wireless network infrastructure components and cabling.
• Installs, manages, maintains and troubleshoots server and database software and hardware.
• Manages servers and infrastructure in virtual platforms and cloud environments.
• Maintains the Library's internet connection and associated services.
• Serves in the On-Call Tech Help daily rotation, weekend and evening rotations.
