Primary Responsibilities

1. Negotiate and prepare facility agreements that are geographically competitive
2. Achieve objectives for unit cost performance and trend management
3. Prepare and negotiate value-based, performance-based, and creative contracts for assigned regional facilities
4. Evaluate and negotiate contracts in compliance with company templates, reimbursement structure standards, and other key process controls
5. Collaborate with Provider Network team to ensure that network composition includes an appropriate distribution of provider specialties
6. Participate in regional and state-based contracting and/or provider network calls; possess the willingness and ability to provide explanations and information to others on difficult and/or complex contracting issues (i.e., subject matter expert)

Required Qualifications

1. 3+ years of experience in provider contracting related roles or network management and provider services
2. 3+ years of experience using financial models and analysis to negotiate rates with providers
3. Proven in-depth knowledge of fee-for-service (FFS), risk sharing, and value-based or “creative” contracting
4. Proven intermediate knowledge of claims processing systems and guidelines
5. Demonstrable knowledge of managed care contracting concepts, provider network access, and CMS and Medicaid rules
6. All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually, based on full-time employment. Pay is determined by various factors including local labor markets, education, experience, and certifications. UnitedHealth Group complies with all applicable minimum wage laws. In addition to salary, benefits include a comprehensive package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401(k) contributions. Benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.
