Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a network engineer with security clearance to support classified contracts. Responsibilities include configuring Cisco routers/switches/firewalls, maintaining LAN/WAN/VPNs, and designing complex network architectures.

Strong emphasis on security, compliance, and cross-team collaboration in a high-stakes environment. Candidates should have a Security+ or higher, relevant degree(s), and the ability to obtain/maintain access to Special Programs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform Network Communications activities in support of classified government contracts
  • Maintains smooth operation of LAN/WAN/VPNs
  • Plans, designs, configures, and installs network hardware in support of customer requirements
  • Install and configure Cisco routers, switches and firewalls
  • Implement and troubleshoot LAN/WAN technologies (VLANs, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF)
  • Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems; after-hours/weekend support as needed

Responsibilities
  • Perform Network Communications activities in support of classified government contracts.
  • Maintains smooth operation of LAN/WAN/VPNs.
  • Plans, designs, configures, and installs network hardware in support of customer requirements.
  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware / software interconnection, as well as interfacing, including routers, multiplexers, firewalls, switches, gateways, etc.
  • Proposes solutions to management.
  • Ensures all communication requirements (based on future needs and current usage) are configured to optimize cost savings.
  • Creates and ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
  • Provides regular monitoring, and network analysis, regarding short and long-range planning for systems.
  • May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. Designs networks, or portions of networks, including the selection of hardware and software packages.
  • Interfaces with Infrastructure/Hypervisor team during system configuration and troubleshooting of network issues
  • Plan, manage and implement complex network designs in support of customer requirements.
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Support network teams in project designs to clarify project requirements, provide design solutions, in accordance with standards.
  • Perform troubleshooting analysis of network infrastructure and associated systems.
  • Document network hardware and software technology components.
  • Install and configure Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
  • Implement and troubleshoot LAN technologies such as VLANs, trunking (port tagging), spanning-tree and protocols.
  • Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems. Periodically provide after-hours and weekend support.
  • Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for desired results.
  • Implement and troubleshoot WAN technologies such as EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF
  • Interface regularly with customers and manage customer installation timelines and deliverables to help facilitate successful deployments.
  • Manage timely resolution of all critical and/or complex problems meeting SLA requirements
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, PowerPoint and Excel
Basic Qualifications
  • Master's Degree with 0 years of relevant experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 2 years of relevant experience; OR an Associate's Degree with 4 years of relevant experience; OR a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 6 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must have a Security+ certification or greater
  • Candidates must have a current US Government Secret level security clearance in order to be considered
  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain, and maintain, access to Special Programs as a condition of continued employment
  • Must have work experience with designing and maintaining LAN/WAN based networks, managing routing protocols on large LAN environments, and experience with Cisco hardware (routers, switches, and firewalls)
  • Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi networking fundamentals
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree Network Engineering
  • Active Top Secret, SCI, SAP/SAR access, or Polygraph
  • Knowledge of NISPOM Chapter 8, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, or JSIG information system environments
  • Network administration and analysis of routers, switches, firewalls, and/or VTCs
  • Experience in the use of network analysis tools (WireShark, SolarWinds, etc.)
  • Experience configuring TACLANES
  • Experience with Assessment & Authorization processes

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
