Job summary

National Grid is seeking an experienced US-based Network Engineer specializing in tooling, automation and observability. Qualifications

• Strong network engineering background with LAN/WAN, routing, IP, DNS and management concepts.
• Hands-on Python and scripting experience; developing automation, tooling or integrations.
• Strong API and systems integration experience, especially REST APIs between network platforms.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, operate, maintain, integrate, and enhance tooling platforms including ThousandEyes, SolarWinds, Infoblox DDI, NetBrain, and ServiceNow.
• Develop integrations between network platforms, devices, and supporting platforms using REST APIs, Python, and scripting.
• Develop and enhance network observability capabilities using monitoring, telemetry, and operational data.
• Design and implement network configuration automation and repeatable engineering workflows.
• Develop reusable scripts and automation to reduce manual activity and improve consistency.
• Apply NetDevOps and modern software delivery practices to network engineering.
• Extract, transform and analyze data from network platforms and APIs to provide actionable insights.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI/AIOps to network operations and automate remediation.
