Job summary

Matlen Silver is seeking a Network Automation Engineer in Chandler, AZ, on a hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite. The contract role runs 12-18 months with potential conversion to permanent, paying around $70 per hour W2; relocation from nearby states is considered for AZ candidates.

You will develop Python-based automation, work with network fundamentals, and integrate automation with monitoring and telemetry platforms under senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Python scripting for automation.
• Solid understanding of network fundamentals including routing and switching.
• Experience with REST APIs and JSON data exchange.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance Python-based automation scripts to support network operations and monitoring use cases.
• Assist in building and maintaining automation workflows for event enrichment, diagnostics, and basic remediation.
• Support integration of automation with existing monitoring, telemetry, and alerting platforms.
• Participate in identifying repeatable operational tasks that can be automated under senior engineer guidance.
• Help implement validation checks, logging, and basic guardrails in automation workflows.
• Perform testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of automation components in non-production and production environments.
• Maintain documentation such as runbooks, automation usage guides, and operational notes.
• Provide first-level support for automation tools and escalate complex issues to senior team members.
• Follow established development, version control, and deployment standards.
