Job summary

VetsEZ seeks a Lead Network Engineer to direct the network engineering team and design, implement, and maintain enterprise networks for VistA and VAEC AWS environments. The role ensures secure connectivity to cloud resources and adherence to federal IT standards.

The candidate will plan, execute, and supervise network architecture, capacity planning, and ongoing monitoring, while coordinating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver reliable VA network services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or another engineering/technical discipline; eight years of experience may substitute for degree.
• 5+ years of experience in network engineering and leadership.
• Experience with government IT contracts, including design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Experience leading and directing a network engineering team and overseeing daily operations.
• Experience in network planning, engineering, and architecture, including capacity planning and evaluating new products.
• Experience with AWS cloud networking and WAN connectivity to cloud resources.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct the network engineering team; prioritize tasks and provide technical guidance.
• Design, implement, and maintain VistA network infrastructure per government standards.
• Provide operations support for VAEC AWS cloud environment and VA WAN with security best practices.
• Oversee network architecture design and plan for cloud connectivity and resource placement.
• Plan and evaluate complex network systems; quantify resources to maintain or expand service levels.
• Perform capacity planning and deliver monthly network metrics.
• Monitor interfaces and performance; troubleshoot to maximize uptime and security.
• Handle escalated issues and coordinate with other IT teams and vendors.
• Develop standards and evaluate new technologies and tools for networks.
• Plan OS upgrades and use network management tools for discovery and mapping.
