Network/Application Performance Engineer - TS/SCI with FSP

Location: Fort Meade, MD

Security Clearance: Must be a US Citizen and have a minimum clearance of TS/SCI with FSP.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an expert in cloud migration, WAN optimization, networking and application performance, and/or application delivery, utilizing the Riverbeds application performance portfolio.
• Provide specialized planning and design expertise in data center consolidation and migration, network configuration and analysis, and application performance troubleshooting and optimization.
• Analyze and understand the customer's IT organization, requirements and processes, and use this knowledge to assist in achieving full adoption and utilization of client solutions to maximize ROI and business value.
• Present and articulate advanced product features, benefits, and overall product solutions.
• Produce solutions to fulfill customer needs within budget and schedule constraints.
• Work directly with customers, colleagues and stakeholders to achieve project goals.

Desired Technical Skills

• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, network design, protocols, components and operations; multi‑tier application architectures; J2EE and .NET internals.
• Strong knowledge of web application architecture and software: Web servers (Apache, IIS), J2EE servers (WebSphere, WebLogic), databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2), operating systems (UNIX, Windows).
• Installation and configuration experience with ESX, VMFS, storage subsystems, cache architectures and windowing systems.
• Experience with protocol analyzers, WireShark, NetFlow, and packet analysis.
• Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages (Ruby, Perl, RESTful APIs).

Qualifications

• Onsite position only; no remote work.
• Experience with Splunk, Cisco, Juniper, Cryptos, Palo Alto, ArcSight, Nessus Vulnerability scanning and RMF.
• Experience with Riverbed tools (SteelHead, AppResponse, Profiler, NETIM, NetCollector, NetAuditor, Aternity).
• Minimum DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II Certification (e.g., A+ CE, CCNA‑Security, Security+, Network+ CE, CISSP, CASP, SSCP).
• BS/MS degree in a technical field or equivalent military or career experience.
• CCNA (routing, switching) preferred; SD‑WAN experience preferred.
• Professional background in professional services, technical consulting, or network engineering/operations preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical audiences, drive IT projects forward in large organizations, and translate technical features into tangible business benefits.
• Self‑motivated and capable of high performance under minimal supervision.
• Excellent business writing and presentation skills.
• Professionalism appropriate for working with Fortune 500 clients.

Additional Information

Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 annually, depending on experience.
