Job summary

Cumberland County, PA seeks a Network and Security Technician to maintain and improve its wired and wireless infrastructure across county facilities. You will install, configure, and troubleshoot network devices and cabling, ensuring reliable connectivity for departments. The role includes support during Election Day and collaboration with IT colleagues to advance security and efficiency. The position offers a hybrid remote/onsite option after six months of proven performance.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in IT/Network Admin or related field required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required and will be considered.
• Certifications or 5–10 years of IT/technical support experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Configure, install, and maintain wired and wireless LAN/WAN infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, access points, cabling).
• Monitor network traffic to ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot hardware/software as needed.
• Provide Tier 2 technical support to resolve network issues and collaborate with IT teammates.
• Evaluate and recommend network technologies, tools, and improvements to enhance reliability and performance.
• Participate in training, seminars, and meetings as required.
• Assist with Election Day processes in coordination with the Bureau of Elections.
• Perform other related duties as required.
