Job summary

Dexian Government Solutions is seeking an onsite Extreme Networks engineer in Monterey, CA to manage Extreme Networks infrastructure. The role requires strong networking knowledge, advanced troubleshooting, and ability to coordinate with multiple departments.

The ideal candidate will hold a BA/BS or AA/AS with significant network experience, CCNA and Extreme Networks certifications, and a Secret Clearance. Expect after-hours maintenance and hands-on work with 30 lb equipment.

Qualifications

• BA/BS with 5+ years experience or AA/AS with 7+ years in network infra, or 9+ years equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of LAN/WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and security.
• Experience with routing, switching, wireless, firewall tech, load balancing and related protocols.
• Extreme Networks product certification or equivalent vendor certs; CCNA or equivalent cert.
• IAT Level II cert and a Secret Clearance are required to Start.

Responsibilities

• Manage network projects: planning, implementation, documentation, upgrades, migrations and expansions.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues, identify root causes and implement solutions.
• Attend and conduct meetings with other departments for integrated solutions.
• Translate complex technical terminology to higher level authorities.
• Train networking team on Extreme Network changes, processes and best practices.
• Interface with customers/peers on customer service best practices.
• Perform after hours maintenance windows.
• Ability to lift and implement devices at 30 lbs.

Position Overview:

The person in this position will be the onsite Extreme Networks engineer managing the Extreme Networks, who possess a combination of experience, skills, and qualifications.

Job Duties:

• Manage network related projects, including planning, implementation, and documentation, including network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure expansions.
• Troubleshooting complex network issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
• Attend and conduct meetings with other departments for integrated solutions.
• Speak to and translate complex technical terminology to higher level authorities.
• Train networking team on Extreme Network changes, processes and best practices
• Interface, work with, and assist customers and peers with customer services best practices.
• Perform after hours maintenance windows.
• Ability to lift and implement devices at 30 lbs.

Job Requirements:

• Educational requirements include BA/BS from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5+ years, AA/AS with 7+ years' experience or substitute with 9+years of relevant experience working with network infrastructure, with focus on Extreme Networks products and solutions.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including but not limited to LAN, WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security. Experience with deployment and administration of routing, switching, wireless, firewall technologies, load balancing, and protocols
• Certified to work on Extreme Networks products, such as switches, routers, access points, and network management tools.
• Shall possess a combination of experience and skills with the following manufacturers and applications:
• VMware NSX: Install, Configure, Manage (V6.2)
• Ruckus Layer 2 Switches / Wireless Controller / Wireless Access Points
• Palo Alto Networks Firewall knowledge of PA-7050 / PA-3060 / PA-3260 / PA-5450 / WildFire/URL Filtering
• Brocade MPLS Implementation Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches
• Cisco Networks switches and routers
• Aruba Networks Excellent knowledge of Wireless Controllers / Access Points / Airwave / ClearPass
• Ciena 100G OME 6500 DWDM System
• Extreme Networks Layer 2/3, MLXE Switches /Extreme IQ / OSPF, BGP, and MPLS
• SolarWinds, InMon Sentinel, Uptrends.

Required to Start Qualifications:

• IAT Level II (CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP) Certification and applicable Computing Environment/Operating System Certification is required to Start.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent network vendor certificate is required to Start.
• A Secret Clearance is required to Start.
