Job summary

Saint Joseph's University is seeking a Network Administrator to implement and maintain network infrastructure across campus. The role covers daily operations, troubleshooting, and serving as a liaison with internal and external service providers to ensure reliable network services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 3+ years of network administration experience.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of L2 switches and IEEE 802.1ad/802.1q network standards.
  • Knowledge of data communications cabling.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, inclusive environment; valid driver's license.
  • Preferred knowledge of PoE standards (802.3af/at/bt)
  • Knowledge of routing protocols (SPBM, IS-IS, BGP, OSPF, VXLAN/EVPN)
  • Knowledge of IPv4/IPv6 networking

Responsibilities

  • Installs and performs ongoing maintenance on networking infrastructure.
  • Routers, switches, wireless networking solutions, firewalls, power and environmental devices, and cabling are maintained.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots and resolves performance and connectivity issues.
  • Serve as liaison for network cabling requests and activations.
  • Monitor traffic between networks and create VLANs, VRFs and firewall policies as needed.
  • Assist with network cabling documentation, reporting and IP address management.
  • Determine technical requirements and liaise with internal/external services to deploy network devices and services.
  • Manage network cable and hardware inventory.
