Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Network Administrator II to support Element 1 Launch Operations. You will maintain secure network environments and collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to ensure stability across launch and ground systems.

The role is on-site in Westminster, MD with a 2nd or 3rd shift option. A bachelor's degree and 2–5 years of related experience are expected, along with strong networking and security skills.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise and operational network infrastructure.
  • Support switches, routers, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and network security appliances.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity for reliable operations.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, latency, and infrastructure issues in mission-critical environments.
  • Assist with VLANs, VPNs, routing, and access control configurations.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on security, vulnerability remediation, and compliance.

Network Administrator II to join our 2nd or 3rd shift. In this role, you will support network infrastructure and communications systems associated with the Element 1 Launch Operations Program. This role is responsible for maintaining secure, reliable, and high‑performing network environments that support engineering, integration, testing, mission operations, and launch activities.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and technically capable network professional with experience supporting operational infrastructure in mission‑critical environments. This position works closely with IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, mission operations, and engineering teams to ensure network stability, security, and operational readiness across launch and ground support systems.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Configure, administer, monitor, and maintain enterprise and operational network infrastructure supporting Element 1 launch operations
  • Support switches, routers, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and network security appliances
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity to ensure reliable operational support
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, latency, and infrastructure‑related issues across operational and engineering environments
  • Support implementation and maintenance of VLANs, VPNs, routing protocols, and access control configurations
  • Support network infrastructure associated with launch operations, integration labs, mission operations, and testing environments
  • Assist with network provisioning, hardware deployments, cable management, and infrastructure upgrades
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to support network security, vulnerability remediation, and compliance initiatives
  • Participate in incident response and operational troubleshooting activities during critical mission and launch support windows
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning activities related to network operations
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, infrastructure documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures
  • Assist with implementation of infrastructure improvements focused on reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency
  • Support network audits, compliance reviews, and cybersecurity assessments
  • Recommend process improvements and infrastructure enhancements based on operational needs and performance trends
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned to support business operations, organizational objectives, and evolving Element 1 program needs
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
  • 2–5 years of professional experience in network administration or network operations.
  • Experience administering enterprise networking environments and supporting operational infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Enterprise networking technologies (Fortinet preferred or equivalent platforms)
    • Firewall and network security solutions
    • VPN and remote access technologies
    • Network monitoring, diagnostics, and troubleshooting tools
    • Routing, switching, TCP/IP, VLANs, and network segmentation
    • Ticketing systems and infrastructure management platforms
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve network connectivity, hardware, and software issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical teams.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, manufacturing, mission operations, or other highly regulated operational environments.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, compliance requirements, and vulnerability management processes.
  • Experience supporting 24/7 operations or shift‑based environments.

$94,000 - $112,000 a year
