Job summary

Pilgrim’s in Perry, IA is seeking a Network Administrator I to provide desktop and plant support in a meat harvest and processing facility. The role focuses on managing servers, switches, cabling, printers, and desktop systems at assigned locations, with travel as needed. Weekend work possible when plant is idle.

Candidates should have at least three years related experience, knowledge of Windows Server, Cisco switches, Citrix, and network cabling. MCSE/A+ are a plus but not required.

• Cisco Switch configurations and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Hands on with Desktop and plant support in a meat harvest and processing facility.
• Support and manage all computer/network components including servers, switches, cabling, and desktop systems at assigned locations.
• Program Cisco Switches for Local Area Network.
• Document Local Area Network at assigned location(s).
• Document and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for site technologies.
• Work with end users and propose new hardware/software solutions to support the business.
• Test all hardware and software modifications before they are introduced into production.
• Provide hardware and software diagnostics for network, hardware and software issues.
• Manage technology projects in compliance with IT standards.
• Provide hardware and network support for Production Floor computer systems.
• Support all printer functions at assigned locations.
• Available to work some weekends when plant is not running.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Network Administrator I – Perry, IA location

The person in this position will primarily be hands on with Desktop and plant support in a meat harvest and processing facility. Experience in this type of environment is preferred. T his position will be key in helping to manage computer/network equipment including servers, switches, cabling, printer’s desktop systems at assigned locations. Support assigned maintenance technician as needed when installing/maintaining motion and in-line scales.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Hands on with Desktop and plant support in a meat harvest and processing facility.
• Support and manage all computer/network components including servers, switches, cabling , and desktop systems at assigned locations
• Program Cisco Switches for Local Area Network
• Document Local Area Network at assigned location(s)
• Document and maintain “Standard Operating Procedures” for site specific technologies in use at the facility.
• Fundamental understanding of VLANS
• Work with end users and propose new h ardware and s oftware solutions to support the business.
• Test all hardware and software modifications before they are introduced into production.
• Provid e hardware and software diagnos tics for network , hardware and software issues .
• Manage technology projects in compliance with I T standards
• Provide hardware and network support for “Production Floor” computer systems.
• Supporting all printer functions at assigned locations
• Perform related tasks as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be capable of walking, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, picking up at least 50 pounds, and standing for long periods of time. Must be able to work in confined spaces i.e. Server room , and network closets .

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Three years related experience
• Working/troubleshooting knowledge of Windows /2003/2008 Server, Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Office 2007 & 2010.
• Understanding and functional knowledge of Citrix desktop / client
• Must have knowledge of Cisco Switch configurations and troubleshooting
• Must have knowledge of Network cabling and connectivity
• MCSE Certification is a plus; not required
• A+ Certification is a plus; not required
• Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Must have strong customer support abilities
• Must be willing to work in a plant / industrial environment
• Must be willing to travel.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: High School Diploma/GED; Associate degree or two years of college coursework within specific subject related to position functions.
