Job summary

Morton is seeking a mid-level Network Administrator to support a large, multi-site enterprise network in Richmond, VA. The role involves hands-on WAN/LAN work, Cisco IOS/NX-OS, SD-WAN, secure access, monitoring, and incident resolution across distributed locations.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of enterprise networking experience and can work independently while coordinating with senior engineers on more complex initiatives. Occasional after-hours support and Virginia travel are expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of enterprise WAN/LAN experience in a multi-site environment.
• Strong hands-on Cisco IOS and NX-OS experience.
• Experience with SD-WAN and Meraki environments.
• Familiarity with secure access technologies (ISE, VPNs, Zero Trust).
• CCNA certification; CCNP preferred.
• Willingness to travel within Virginia and support after-hours activities.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain enterprise WAN/LAN infrastructure across multiple locations.
• Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routers and switches using IOS and NX-OS.
• Support Layer 2/3 technologies (VLANs, STP, EtherChannel, QoS, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP).
• Administer and troubleshoot Cisco SD-WAN (vManage, vSmart, vEdge).
• Support cloud-managed networking (Cisco Meraki).
• Maintain secure network access (ISE, Duo MFA, Zero Trust).
• Configure and support Cisco firewall technologies (VPN/IPsec, NAT, rules).
• Monitor network health with ThousandEyes, SolarWinds, PRTG, Splunk; troubleshoot outages and incidents.
• Assist with vulnerability remediation and security initiatives.
• Perform onsite installations and troubleshooting (routers, switches, APs, firewalls, cabling).
• Coordinate with carriers, vendors, security and infra teams; maintain runbooks and diagrams.
• Execute changes via change-management processes; assist with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash).

This is a hands-on role supporting WAN/LAN infrastructure, Cisco networking technologies, SD-WAN, secure access, monitoring, and network troubleshooting across distributed locations.

The ideal candidate has approximately 5+ years of enterprise networking experience and is comfortable handling day-to-day network administration independently while partnering with senior engineers on more complex network engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain enterprise WAN/LAN infrastructure across multiple locations
• Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routers and switches using IOS and NX-OS
• Support Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies including VLANs, STP, EtherChannel, QoS, OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP
• Administer and troubleshoot Cisco SD-WAN, including vManage, vSmart, and vEdge
• Support cloud-managed networking environments, including Cisco Meraki
• Maintain secure network access technologies including Cisco ISE, Duo MFA, and Zero Trust solutions
• Configure and support Cisco firewall technologies, including firewall rules, NAT, VPN/IPsec, and related security policies
• Monitor network health and performance using tools such as ThousandEyes, SolarWinds, PRTG, and Splunk
• Troubleshoot network outages, performance issues, connectivity problems, and other infrastructure incidents
• Assist with vulnerability remediation and network security initiatives
• Perform onsite network installations and troubleshooting, including routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, cabling, and related hardware
• Coordinate with carriers, vendors, security teams, infrastructure teams, and other technical groups
• Maintain network diagrams, configuration documentation, runbooks, inventory, and standard operating procedures
• Execute network changes through established change-management processes
• Assist with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or Bash

Required Qualifications

• Approximately 5+ years of network administration or WAN/LAN experience within a multi-site enterprise environment
• Strong hands-on Cisco networking experience, including IOS and/or NX-OS
• Solid understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts and protocols
• Hands-on experience supporting Cisco SD-WAN
• Experience with cloud-managed networking technologies such as Cisco Meraki
• Familiarity with network security and secure access technologies such as Cisco ISE, Duo MFA, firewalls, VPNs, and Zero Trust
• Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
• Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, or Bash
• Ability to travel periodically within Virginia and support occasional after-hours network activities
• CCNA certification

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of enterprise network administration experience
• Advanced Cisco SD-WAN experience, including templates and policies
• Experience with Cisco ISE policy administration
• Strong Meraki experience
• Experience with Zero Trust networking technologies
• Familiarity with Cisco ACI and/or VXLAN
• Experience with Cisco Intersight
• Experience supporting network vulnerability management and remediation
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
• CCNP certification or currently working toward CCNP
