Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Network Administrator to manage and maintain our network infrastructure, ensuring its stability, security, and optimal performance. This is a critical role responsible for the health and reliability of our remote and on-site network environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of networking principles, security best practices, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively in a remote setting.
Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Management: Monitor, maintain, and support the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and wireless network infrastructure.
Network Security Implementation: Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and access control lists (ACLs), to protect sensitive healthcare data.
Remote Access Management: Configure and support secure remote access solutions (VPN, etc.) for employees and authorized users.
Network Performance Monitoring: Utilize network monitoring tools to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring optimal network speed and reliability.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve network-related issues promptly and effectively, providing remote support to end-users as needed.
Configuration and Maintenance: Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
Patch Management: Implement and manage network device firmware and software updates and patches to maintain security and stability.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
Vendor Management: Liaise with network hardware and service providers as needed.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Participate in the planning and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans related to network infrastructure.
Capacity Planning: Monitor network capacity and plan for future growth and scalability.
Security Audits and Compliance: Participate in security audits and ensure network infrastructure compliance with relevant healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
On-Call Support: Provide occasional on-call support for critical network issues outside of regular business hours.
Collaboration: Work effectively with other IT team members and departments to ensure seamless IT operations.
Qualifications
Work Permit/Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit allowing employment in the United States.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Security+) are highly desirable.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in network administration, with a strong focus on network security.
Technical Skills
In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, routing (e.g., BGP, OSPF), switching (VLANs, STP), and DNS.
Hands-on experience configuring and managing network devices from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet).
Strong understanding of firewall technologies, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG).
Familiarity with wireless networking standards and security protocols (e.g., 802.11x, WPA2/3).
Knowledge of network security best practices and principles.
Experience with cloud networking concepts (e.g., AWS VPC, Azure VNet) is a plus.
Scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks are a plus.
Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues efficiently in a remote environment.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
Self-Motivation: Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in network configurations and documentation.
Understanding of Healthcare Regulations (Preferred): Familiarity with HIPAA and other relevant healthcare IT security and compliance regulations is a plus.
Remote Work Capabilities: Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated, secure home office environment suitable for remote work.
