Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Network Administrator to support a federal client’s mission-critical systems in defense of our Homeland. You will implement and maintain the organization’s network infrastructure, overseeing performance, reliability, and security on site in Annapolis Junction, MD, with a requirement for a Secret clearance.

• 7+ years in Network Administrator or related field
• 5+ years in network configuration and monitoring
• 5+ years in firewall configuration (Palo Alto, Juniper, etc.)
• 5+ years in network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, NetCool)
• Must be able to commute daily to onsite locations
• Willing to participate in 24x7x365 on-call schedule

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN concentrators.
• Monitor network performance and optimize throughput and reliability.
• Troubleshoot using firewall logs, packet capture tools, and cross-team collaboration.
• Plan capacity and manage bandwidth for future growth.
• Integrate network with cloud services, storage, and other IT components.
• Stay current with networking trends and recommend adoption where appropriate.
• Document network configurations, diagrams, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Manage and secure networks and tenant network segments.
• Deliver and manage network load balancing services.
• Document and manage IP addresses.

Maximus is seeking a Network Administrator to provide expertise to a federal client in support of their mission critical systems in defense of our Homeland.

As a Network Administrator, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our organization's network infrastructure. Your role will involve overseeing network administration, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our network systems.

This role is onsite, in Annapolis Junction, MD, and requires a Secret clearance.

Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN concentrators.
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to ensure optimal throughput and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues using firewall logs, switch packet capture tools; engaging with cross-functional teams to leverage support and collaboration when necessary.
• Conduct network capacity planning and bandwidth management to accommodate future growth and changing business needs.
• Collaborate with other teams to integrate network infrastructure with cloud services, storage systems, and other IT components.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in networking and recommend their adoption as appropriate.
• Create and maintain documentation related to network configurations, diagrams, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior network engineers.
• Managing, monitoring, maintaining, and securing networks and tenant network segments that integrate the transport of networks and data.
• Organizing, documenting, and managing the delivery of Network load balancing services.
• Document and Manage Internet Protocol Addresses.

Job-Specific Minimum Requirements

• Active Secret clearance.
• Due to contract requirements, only US Citizens can be considered. Candidates with dual citizenship cannot be considered.
• Seven (7)+ years of experience in a Network Administrator role or in a related field.
• Five (5) or more years of experience in the following:
• Network configuration and monitoring.
• Firewall configuration - palo alto, juniper, etc.
• Network monitoring tools - SolarWinds and NetCool.
• Candidates must be able to move throughout office and data center environments, including frequent walking, standing, and navigating between work locations. Must be able to occasionally lift and move equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds and perform the essential functions of the position.
• Candidates must reside within a commutable distance for daily onsite work and on-call requirements.
• This contract supports systems that require 24x7x365 uptime. Candidates must be willing and able to meet recall requirements, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule.
