Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Network Administrator for the Watervliet Arsenal ICN project. The role requires hands-on installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of network and server hardware, OS, and peripherals.

Expect to maintain systems, backups, and user training to ensure operability and compliance. The incumbent must have DoD-appropriate credentials, be eligible for a Secret clearance, and possess or obtain required certifications such as SEC+ or CCNA/CCNP.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Network Administrator roles with DNS and DHCP.
• Must have or be able to obtain CompTIA SEC+ or CCNA/CCNP before start date.
• US Citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization.

• Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English.

Job description

Position Duties

• Network experience in an Industrial Control Environment (ICN) is essential in the establishment of the Watervliet Arsenal ICN with the capability of 50% growth.
• Receives network, communications, and related operating systems from various sources such as design centers and commercial vendors; maintains an inventory of all network hardware and software.
• Installs, configures, trouble-shoots network and applications server hardware, operating systems software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, and concentrators.
• Changes the components of existing equipment for efficient operation.
• Develops and maintains local procedures for networks, system operations, and product assembly and installation.
• Implement all network operating systems and/or application software and maintain contact with software suppliers to ensure that the current release of software products is in use.
• Conducts testing to ensure operability, efficiency, and compliance with existing standards.
• Monitors operation of the network and ensures that hardware and software are functioning properly and that operation standards are met.
• Reviews, evaluates, and fine tunes components to achieve peak efficiency within the overall network connectivity.
• Function tests the hardware and software to resolve technical problems and makes the appropriate on-site repairs.
• Provides ongoing support, resolution of problems, and recovery of operating malfunctions involving various hardware components and software failures.
• Performs system backups to ensure expedient restoration of the database for the respective network equipment.
• Participates with user support personnel to train office personnel and functional end users on use of office automation computers, local and wide area networks, and other automated tools.
• Recommends and prepares operating policies and procedures for networks, system operations, and product assembly and installation.
• Incumbent (or Selectee) is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position and outlined in DOD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, occasional working at elevated heights on platforms, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilitiesfor communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 3 years’ experience required in Network Administrator in the areas of Domain Name System (DNS) server experience, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server experience.
• Must have or be able to obtain CompTIA SEC+ (Security Plus) or equivalent certification CCNA/CCNP before the start date.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
• Must have a Secret Clearance or able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English.

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING HOURLY Rate of Pay: $41.84 (Hourly rate set by Area Wage Determination)

This position includes a competitive benefits package, to include:

• The Company offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, short-term disability insurance.
• Paid vacation. Annual allotment as follows: 80 hours after 1 year of service; 120 hours after 8 years of service; 160 after 15 years of service; 200 after 25 years of service.
• 4 weeks of paid parental leave.
• 11 Paid holidays annually (prorated dependent on hire date).
