Qualifications

SUMMARY: Assists with the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and administration of the MCCA enterprise network infrastructure, including wired and wireless networking, routing, switching, network security, and communications systems supporting MCCA staff, clients, exhibitors, and events. Diagnoses wired and wireless network issues, determines appropriate corrective action, and configures network connectivity for exhibitors and clients during event setup and show operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The Authority’s Infrastructure Manager may designate various other activities.   • Leads the Infoblox DNS and DHCP infrastructure.
  • Assists in the monitoring and diagnosing of troubles in local/wide area networks.
  • Installs, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots the Authority's enterprise wired and wireless network infrastructure, including Juniper routing and switching, Aruba wireless, and Cisco networking platforms as the organization transitions to Cisco Catalyst switching and Cisco Meraki wireless solutions.
  • Performs network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose cause of network/telecommunication disruptions/problems.
  • Reviews trouble logs systems, reports error conditions and takes necessary corrective action.
  • Deploys, configures, and supports enterprise and event wireless networking solutions, including Aruba and Cisco Meraki wireless access points and associated management platforms.
  • Performs hardware/software installation, repair, and upgrade.
  • Consults with client to determine the shows networking requirements, configures and delivers the required network services.
  • Responds to needs and questions of MCCA users and clients concerning their access of network resources.
  • Assists the Infrastructure Manager in the creation and maintenance of all departmental documentation.
  • When appropriate participates in discussion and makes recommendations regarding network issues for ongoing projects.
  • Configures VLANs, bandwidth profiles, QoS policies, and network services to support exhibitor and client network connectivity.
  • Administers Juniper routing and switching infrastructure while assisting in the migration to Cisco Catalyst enterprise switching.
  • Assists with the deployment, configuration, and ongoing administration of Cisco Meraki wireless infrastructure and cloud management.
  • Security log analysis in Microsoft Sentinel SIEM solution.
  • Configures and manages network segmentation, rate limiting, and security policies for production, corporate, and event environments.
  • Manage daily Network Services requests through the IT ticketing system
  • Run and interpret daily, weekly, & monthly network security reports
  • Other related duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervision is provided by the Infrastructure Manager and includes assignment of duties, inspection of work, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: Bachelor Degree OR five years equivalent experience as a Network Operations Analyst, Network Operations Field Engineer or a Network Operations Center Technician/Engineer.

  • In-depth knowledge of the seven layers within the OSI model and detailed familiarity with industry protocols.
  • Extensive experience with IP Addressing to include sub netting.
  • Experience in troubleshooting router, switch and fault-tolerant redundant environments, configuration, troubleshooting and hardware maintenance.
  • Solid understanding of IP networking and two or more associated protocols including TCP/UDP, BGP, OSPF.
  • Candidate must have a working knowledge of DNS, SMTP and server technologies.
  • Solid understanding of LAN protocols - VRRP, Spanning Tree, Ethernet, and VLANS.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise wireless networking environments utilizing Aruba, Cisco Meraki, or comparable enterprise wireless platforms.
  • Experience administering enterprise network infrastructure utilizing Juniper routing and switching platforms is strongly preferred. Experience with Cisco Catalyst switching, Cisco Meraki cloud-managed networking, Aruba wireless infrastructure, or equivalent enterprise networking technologies is highly desirable.
  • Strong commitment to customer service.
  • Experience with enterprise wireless design, RF fundamentals, wireless troubleshooting, and wireless security.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Experience with software licensing and volume purchasing agreements for the major enterprise system software suppliers (e.g., IBM, HP, Microsoft).
  • Experience with enterprise SIEM solution tools (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel)
  • Solid understanding of network security log analysis.
  • Experience in presenting technology recommendations from a business perspective.
  • Experience in planning and carrying out software license audits & reconcilements.
