Job summary

Dexian is seeking a highly experienced Network Administrator to join its IT team in Reston, VA. The role focuses on managing VOIP systems, Cisco IP Phones with ISE, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure for reliability and security.

Ideal candidates bring 7–10 years in network administration, strong TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF knowledge, and hands-on Cisco/Juniper hardware experience. CCNP/CISSP preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7–10 years of network administration experience, with ≥2 years VOIP management.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and OSPF.
  • Hands-on with Cisco/Juniper network hardware and security tools.
  • CCNP/Network+ or CISSP highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage LAN/WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
  • Configure and monitor VOIP systems, Cisco IP Phones with ISE integration.
  • Ensure network security with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption.
  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot outages, and minimize downtime.
  • Document configurations, changes, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Mentor junior staff and collaborate with system admins, devs, and security.

Job description

We are looking for a highly experienced Network Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing VOIP systems, Cisco IP Phone solutions with ISE, and maintaining the organization's overall network infrastructure. This role requires offering reliable network performance, ensuring security, and supporting complex network environments. Candidates should have a strong foundation in networking technologies, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to network management.

Key Responsibilities
Network Design and Implementation
  • Design, deploy, and oversee network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks
  • Configure and monitor VOIP systems, specifically Cisco IP Phones with security integration
  • Develop network solutions aligned with organizational strategic objectives
  • Assess and recommend new networking technologies to enhance operational efficiency
Network Maintenance and Support
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime
  • Execute routine maintenance tasks such as firmware updates, patches, and hardware replacements
  • Provide prompt technical support to resolve network outages and issues
Security Management
  • Implement and oversee network security measures including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption protocols
  • Conduct regular vulnerability scans and security assessments
  • Develop and enforce policies to protect data and network resources
Network Optimization
  • Analyze traffic and performance data to identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities
  • Fine-tune network configurations and implement QoS policies for efficient data flow
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to optimise network-related functionalities of applications and services
Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain detailed records of network configurations, changes, and operational procedures
  • Prepare regular reports on network performance, security, and maintenance activities
  • Create and update disaster recovery and business continuity plans for network resilience
Team Leadership and Collaboration
  • Mentor junior network staff and provide technical guidance
  • Work with cross-functional teams such as system administrators, developers, and security professionals to support projects
  • Participate in planning and executing infrastructure upgrades and enhancements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in network administration, including a minimum of 2 years managing VOIP systems
  • Proven success in designing and maintaining complex network environments
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and OSPF
  • Hands‑on experience with network hardware from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or similar
  • Deep understanding of network security best practices and tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs
  • Familiarity with wireless networking technologies and management
  • Professional certifications such as CCNP, Network+, or CISSP are highly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, Network+, CISSP)
  • Experience with enterprise‑grade network hardware and security tools
  • Demonstrated leadership or mentorship capabilities
  • Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment
