Hatteras Capital Advisors is seeking Power Systems Technicians at multiple experience levels to join our electrical testing team in San Jose, Sacramento, and Denver. You will perform testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and evaluation of electrical power distribution systems across commercial and industrial environments.

Ideal candidates bring experience with medium-voltage switchgear, protective relays, and test data analysis, with a strong focus on safety and documentation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with applicable degree OR 10+ years without a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical testing, inspection, commissioning, and troubleshooting in field projects.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking Power Systems Technicians at multiple experience levels to join a growing electrical testing and power systems team. These positions offer an excellent opportunity for individuals ranging from early-career technicians to experienced NETA-certified professionals who want to build their expertise, take on increasing responsibility, and advance their careers.

Our team performs testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and evaluation of electrical power distribution and protection systems across commercial, industrial, utility, and other critical infrastructure environments.

Military-trained electrical professionals are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly those with backgrounds in Army Prime Power, Air Force Power Production, or Navy Electrical/Interior Communications (EM/IC).

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an electrical-related field
  • Assist with electrical testing, inspection, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
  • Exposure to or experience with MCCs, circuit breakers, oil testing, and infrared scanning is preferred
  • Willingness to learn electrical testing procedures, equipment, and industry standards
  • Ability to work safely around energized and de-energized electrical equipment
  • Military electrical experience is highly valued
  • Minimum 2 years of field experience
  • Capable of performing field testing and related responsibilities under appropriate supervision
  • Demonstrated understanding of electrical safety practices and procedures
  • Takes full ownership of personal field safety, including LOTO, arc-flash hazards, shock hazards, and job-site safety requirements
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and interpret test results
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Lead medium-complexity field projects and testing assignments
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Level I and Level II technicians
  • Evaluate and interpret complex electrical test data
  • Perform advanced testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostic work
  • Safely execute electrical power switching and related field activities
  • Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and field personnel
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and accurate documentation
  • Associate degree in an applicable discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience with applicable degree OR 10+ years without a degree
  • Provide independent technical and operational leadership in the field
  • Supervise multiple crews and coordinate several projects or assignments
  • Lead large and technically complex testing projects
  • Conduct complex electrical investigations and troubleshooting
  • Analyze sophisticated test results and determine appropriate corrective actions
  • Safely oversee electrical power switching and complex field operations
  • Prepare and/or review detailed final engineering and testing reports
  • Mentor technicians and contribute to the continued development of the technical team
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for clients and internal personnel
