Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking experienced Electrical Technicians (NETA levels II–IV) to join teams performing acceptance and maintenance testing on critical power systems across substations, industrial facilities, data centers, and commercial utilities in Maryland. You will work hands-on in the field, read one-line diagrams, and coordinate with engineers and clients to ensure safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Requires NETA Level II/III/IV certification and hands-on field testing experience.
  • Experience across substations, industrial facilities, data centers, and utility environments.
  • Ability to read one-line diagrams, schematics, and test specifications.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ATS and MTS testing on transformers, switchgear, breakers, and relays.
  • Diagnose faults and document deficiencies with field service reports.
  • Support commissioning and pre-energization activities.
  • Coordinate with engineers, PMs, and clients to meet deadlines.
  • Mentor junior technicians as needed.

Job description

I'm currently working with several NETA accredited companies that are actively seeking experienced Electrical Technicians to join their team. Responsibilities include performing acceptance and maintenance testing on critical electrical power systems. Role(s) suited to NETA Level II, III, or IV technicians with hands-on field testing experience working across substations, industrial facilities, data centers, and commercial/utility environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform acceptance (ATS) and maintenance (MTS) testing on electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, protective relays, cables, and grounding systems
  • Conduct testing procedures such as turns-ratio, winding resistance, insulation resistance, power factor/dissipation factor, excitation current, CT/PT testing, breaker timing, and contact resistance testing
  • Read and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and test specifications
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and system deficiencies in the field
  • Prepare and complete accurate field-service reports, test reports, and deficiency documentation
  • Support commissioning and pre-energization activities on new or upgraded electrical systems
  • Follow strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, arc-flash PPE selection, and OSHA standards
  • Work independently or as part of a team.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure project deadlines and quality standards are met
  • Mentor and support junior technicians as needed (NETA III/IV level)
