Overview
Shermco Industries is seeking a NETA III Field Service Technician.
Skills:
- Travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on low, medium, and high voltage (480 Volt to 600 kV) electrical systems.
- Instrument transformer tests, Power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.).
- Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays.
- Cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot.
- Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting.
- Low, Medium, and High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing.
- Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
- Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies promptly.
Responsibilities
To qualify for consideration, you must meet each of the following minimum qualifications and requirements:
- Must be able to drive locally/regionally daily, and be available for periodic overnight travel.
- Prefer an Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or an EE Degree from an ABET-accredited college, or similar military experience and training (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, NAVY Seabee).
- NETA Certification (I, II, III, or IV) or similar desired.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing & troubleshooting.
- Good PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; experience with PowerDB is a plus.
- Ability to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
- Preferred OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training; training can be provided by Shermco.
Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Pass a fit-for-duty physical exam when required.
- Maintain a drug-free status; pass pre-employment and periodic random drug tests.
- Acceptable pre-employment criminal background check.
- Physically fit to crawl, climb, stand, walk, and lift up to 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Willing to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights.
- Not requiring sponsorship to work in the U.S.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willing to travel at least 40%.
- Background check and drug/alcohol screening required.
